Product Description

Amber Stopcock Bottles are specialized containers for light‑sensitive liquid dispensing and siphoning in laboratories, precision‑manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. The amber glass effectively blocks UV and visible light to protect photolabile solutions from light‑induced degradation. Featuring a precision glass stopcock on the side of the body, they enable precise liquid dispensing and siphoning transfer through stopcock rotation. The neck is equipped with a ground glass stopper to ensure sealing during light‑protected storage. They are essential tools for quantitative light‑sensitive liquid dispensing, continuous dispensing, and liquid level control in pharmaceutical, chemical, and biology laboratories.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, thermal shock resistant to 280°C, excellent chemical resistance
  • Amber light protection: Amber glass effectively blocks UV and visible light (290–500nm) to protect light‑sensitive solutions
  • Precision glass stopcock: Precision‑ground for a tight seal, smooth rotation, and precise dispensing control
  • Precision dispensing: Flow rate control through stopcock rotation angle for quantitative and continuous dispensing
  • Siphoning operation: Compatible with tubing for convenient light‑sensitive liquid transfer via siphon
  • Large capacities: Available in 2500mL, 5000mL, 10000mL, and 20000mL

Quality Assurance

Every unit undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, stopcock seal integrity testing, and visual examination to ensure smooth, reliable dispensing and siphoning performance.

Note: Amber Stopcock Bottles are designed for light‑sensitive liquid quantitative dispensing, continuous dispensing, and siphoning operations. The stopcock should be cleaned promptly after use to prevent residue from hardening and causing sticking or seal failure. For long‑term storage, apply a small amount of lubricant to the stopcock to maintain smooth operation.

Applications

Typical Uses

Pharmaceutical industry

Light‑protected dispensing and transfer of purified water, buffer solutions, and pharmaceutical liquids

Chemistry labs

Light‑protected quantitative dispensing and continuous dispensing of standard solutions, color reagents, and indicators

Biology labs

Light‑protected dispensing and siphoning of media, buffers, and staining solutions

Analytical testing

Light‑protected dispensing and transfer of standards and standard solutions

Educational labs

Light‑sensitive liquid dispensing and siphoning demonstration

Compatibility Recommendations

Amber Bottle + Glass Stopcock

Standard configuration for most light‑sensitive aqueous solution dispensing and siphoning

Amber Bottle + PTFE Stopcock

Recommended for light‑sensitive organic solvents and corrosive liquids

Amber Bottle + Ground Glass Stopper

Ensures sealing during light‑protected storage

Amber Bottle + Tubing

Compatible with tubing for light‑sensitive siphon transfer operations

Tip: Amber Stopcock Bottles are professional tools for light‑sensitive liquid dispensing and siphoning in laboratories. Clear stopcock bottles are suitable for general solutions, while amber stopcock bottles are recommended for light‑sensitive solutions. For light‑sensitive organic solvents and corrosive liquids, we recommend PTFE stopcock configuration.

Operation & Maintenance

Amber Stopcock Bottle User Guide

03

Before Use

  • Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches before use
  • Ensure the bottle is clean and dry to prevent contamination of light‑sensitive solutions
  • Check that the stopcock rotates smoothly — no sticking or looseness
  • Verify stopcock seal integrity — no leakage when closed
04

Light‑Protected Dispensing Procedure

  • Pour light‑sensitive solution slowly down the inner wall to avoid splashing
  • Seal the neck with the ground stopper
  • Place the receiving container under the stopcock
  • Gently rotate the stopcock, adjusting the angle to control flow rate
  • Rotate the stopcock back to the closed position once the desired volume is reached
  • The amber glass itself provides light protection — no additional shading required during operation
05

Light‑Protected Siphoning Procedure

  • Attach tubing to the stopcock outlet
  • Place the other end of the tubing into the receiving container
  • Open the stopcock to start siphon transfer using the liquid level differential
  • Close the stopcock and disconnect the tubing after operation
  • Rinse the stopcock and tubing with distilled water
06

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean promptly after use to prevent residue from hardening
  • Remove the stopcock and clean the bore with detergent and a soft brush
  • For stubborn residues, soak in dilute acid or specialty cleaning solution
  • Allow to air‑dry inverted on a draining rack
  • For long‑term storage, apply a small amount of lubricant (e.g., petroleum jelly) to the stopcock to prevent seizing

Care & Notes

Safety Notice

  • Always inspect for cracks or damage before use — damaged bottles may break during use
  • For light‑sensitive organic solvents, we recommend PTFE stopcocks to prevent glass‑to‑glass seizing
Do not
  • Do not force the stopcock if it sticks — check for crystallized residue blocking the bore
  • After dispensing light‑sensitive solutions, always cap the bottle promptly to avoid extended light exposure
  • Do not apply excessive force when rotating the stopcock — this may damage the stopcock or the bottle
  • During siphoning, control the flow rate to avoid overflow
  • Handle with care — avoid impact and rough handling
