Product Description

Two-Arm Filtering Flasks are specialized containers for multi‑purpose vacuum filtration in laboratories, precision‑manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. Featuring both an upper and a lower tube, these flasks offer greater flexibility — the upper tube connects to a vacuum pump for negative‑pressure filtration, while the lower tube can be used to connect to a receiving vessel or to create a continuous filtration system. Widely used for HPLC mobile phase filtration, buffer sterilization, particulate removal, and sample preparation, they are ideal for pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, and food testing laboratories.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, thermal shock resistant to 280°C, excellent chemical resistance
  • Upper + lower tube design: Upper tube connects to vacuum pump, lower tube connects to receiving vessel or enables continuous filtration
  • High clarity: Clear glass body enables easy monitoring of filtration progress and filtrate collection
  • Uniform wall thickness: Maintains structural integrity under vacuum conditions
  • Multiple capacities: Available in 125mL, 250mL, 500mL, 1000mL, 2500mL, 5000mL, 10000mL, 15000mL, and 20000mL

Quality Assurance

Every unit undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, wall thickness testing, and visual examination to ensure safety and reliability during vacuum filtration operations.

Note: Two-Arm Filtering Flasks are designed for vacuum filtration operations. We recommend operating at a vacuum pressure not exceeding 0.08MPa. The lower tube can be connected to a receiving vessel or sealed with a stopper to support various filtration configurations.

Applications

Typical Uses

HPLC analysis

Vacuum degassing and filtration of mobile phases and solvents

Pharmaceutical industry

Sterile filtration of water for injection, buffers, and drug solutions

Chemistry labs

Solid‑liquid separation and purification of reaction products

Biology labs

Sterile filtration of media and cell culture media

Continuous filtration systems

Building continuous or series filtration setups using both tubes

Food testing & environmental monitoring

Filtration in sample preparation

Compatibility Recommendations

Flask + Filter Assembly + Vacuum Pump

Standard vacuum filtration with lower tube sealed

Flask + Filter Assembly + Receiving Vessel

Continuous filtration with filtrate flowing through lower tube

Flask + Series Filtration System

Multiple flasks connected in series for multi‑stage filtration

Flask + Membrane Filter Holder

For microfiltration and sterile filtration applications

Tip: Two-Arm Filtering Flasks offer greater flexibility than side‑arm flasks with an additional lower tube, enabling continuous filtration, series filtration, and other advanced setups. Choose based on your specific filtration requirements.

Operation & Maintenance

Two-Arm Filtering Flask User Guide

03

Before Use

  • Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches before use
  • Ensure the flask is clean and dry to prevent contamination of filtrate
  • Check that both upper and lower tubes are intact — no damage or looseness
  • Select appropriate filter membrane or filter paper
  • Determine filtration configuration (standard/continuous/series)
04

Standard Filtration Procedure

  • Mount the filter assembly on the flask neck
  • Connect the upper tube to the vacuum pump
  • Seal the lower tube with a stopper
  • Pour the liquid into the filter assembly
  • Start the vacuum pump and adjust to recommended pressure (≤ 0.08MPa)
  • Turn off the pump when complete and release pressure before removing the filter assembly
05

Continuous Filtration Procedure (with receiving vessel)

  • Mount the filter assembly on the flask neck
  • Connect the upper tube to the vacuum pump
  • Connect the lower tube to a receiving vessel
  • Pour the liquid into the filter assembly
  • Start the vacuum pump — filtrate flows automatically into the receiving vessel
  • Turn off the pump when complete and disconnect the receiving vessel after pressure release
06

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean promptly after use to prevent residue from hardening
  • Wash with detergent and a soft brush
  • For stubborn residues, soak in dilute acid or specialty cleaning solution
  • Clean both tubes with a soft brush or cotton swab to prevent clogging
  • Allow to air‑dry inverted on a draining rack
  • Store carefully to avoid impact and breakage

Care & Notes

Safety Notice

  • Always inspect for cracks or damage before use — damaged flasks may break under vacuum
  • When filtering organic solvents, confirm compatibility of the filter membrane and sealing materials
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves during operation to prevent splash exposure
Do not
  • Do not exceed the recommended vacuum pressure (≤ 0.08MPa) during filtration
  • Handle with care — avoid impact and rough handling
