Product Description
Gas Collecting Bottles are specialized containers for gas collection and storage in laboratories, precision‑manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. The wide mouth design facilitates easy gas collection and transfer, while the ground glass stopper ensures secure sealing to prevent gas leakage. Suitable for various gas collection methods including water displacement, upward air displacement, and downward air displacement. They are essential tools for gas experiments in chemistry, biology, and environmental monitoring laboratories.
Key Features
Borosilicate glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, extremely low thermal expansion (3.3×10⁻⁶/K), thermal shock resistant to 280°C
Wide mouth design: Large inner diameter facilitates easy gas collection, transfer, and cleaning
Ground glass stopper: Precision‑ground fit ensures an airtight seal, preventing gas leakage
High clarity: Pure, transparent glass allows easy observation of gas volume and condition
Chemical resistant: Excellent resistance to most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents
Multiple capacities: Available in 125mL, 250mL, 500mL, and 1000mL
Quality Assurance
Every bottle undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, seal integrity testing, and visual examination to meet the high standards required in professional laboratories.
Note: Gas Collecting Bottles are designed for gas collection and short‑term storage. Ensure the bottle is clean and dry (or filled with water depending on the collection method) before use. Seal promptly after collection. For water displacement method, fill the bottle completely with water; for air displacement methods, ensure the bottle is dry.
Applications
Typical Uses
Chemistry experiments
Gas collection and storage in gas generation experiments (hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc.)
Biology experiments
Gas collection and detection in respiration and photosynthesis studies
Environmental monitoring
Gas collection and transport in air sampling
Teaching experiments
Gas property verification and exploration in school and university chemistry labs
Research labs
Gas collection and preservation in gas reaction and gas analysis studies
Compatibility Recommendations
Bottle + Ground Glass Stopper
Standard configuration for gas storage
Bottle + Glass Plate
Use a glass plate to cover the mouth for gas transfer
Bottle + Delivery Tube
Use with a delivery tube for gas introduction and removal
Bottle + Water Trough
Use with a water trough for water displacement collection
Tip: Gas Collecting Bottles are fundamental tools for gas experiments. Choose the appropriate collection method based on gas properties: use water displacement for gases with low water solubility, upward air displacement for gases denser than air, and downward air displacement for gases less dense than air.
Operation & Maintenance
Gas Collecting Bottle User Guide
03
Before Use
Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches before use
Prepare the bottle based on the collection method (fill with water for water displacement; keep dry for air displacement)
Verify that the stopper fits properly — no wobble or sticking
Have delivery tubes, water trough, and other accessories ready
04
Water Displacement Collection
Fill the bottle completely with water and invert it into a water trough
Insert the delivery tube into the bottle opening
Introduce gas and observe collection progress
Once collection is complete, cover the mouth with a glass plate while still submerged
Remove the bottle from the water trough and store upright or inverted as required
05
Air Displacement Collection
Ensure the bottle is clean and dry
Insert the delivery tube to the bottom of the bottle
Introduce gas — air is displaced based on gas density differences
Cover the mouth with a glass plate once collection is confirmed
Seal for storage
06
Cleaning & Maintenance
Clean promptly after use to prevent residue from hardening
Wash with detergent and a soft brush, rinse 3× with distilled water
For stubborn residues, soak in dilute acid or specialty cleaning solution
Allow to air‑dry inverted on a draining rack
For long‑term storage, place a small piece of paper between the stopper and the neck to prevent seizing
Care & Notes

Safety Notice
Always inspect for cracks or damage before use — damaged bottles may break during use
When collecting toxic gases, use a fume hood and wear appropriate protective equipment
When collecting flammable gases, keep away from ignition sources
Do not
Do not place gas collecting bottles directly on hot plates or open flames
Handle with care — avoid impact and rough handling
