Product Description

1. Overview

The GL45 Screw Cap Reagent Bottle belongs to our reagent and sample bottle range and is mainly used for storing, dispensing, transferring and sampling reagents, samples and solvents. GL45 螺口. Standard sizes cover 100ml~1000ml. Widely used in wet chemistry, sample preparation and teaching laboratories.

The body is made of borosilicate 3.3 glass; coefficient of expansion about 3.3×10⁻⁶/K, clearly better thermal shock resistance than soda-lime glass. It works between -30℃ to 150℃ (thermal shock within 120℃); chemically it resists water, acids, salt solutions and most organic solvents; not for hydrofluoric acid, hot concentrated phosphoric acid or strong alkali; smooth transparent wall, low adhesion. Level, interface and residue are easy to read, keeping transfer errors small.

When selecting, confirm medium, temperature and connection first, then fix the size: the medium decides the material, the temperature decides whether heating or autoclaving is possible, and the connection decides whether it mates with existing apparatus. For duties outside the normal range — hot concentrated alkali, fluoride media, vacuum or repeated thermal cycling — our engineers can confirm a suitable option.

2. Key properties

  • Material: borosilicate 3.3 glass
  • Working temperature: -30℃ to 150℃ (thermal shock within 120℃)
  • Chemical resistance: resists water, acids, salt solutions and most organic solvents; not for hydrofluoric acid, hot concentrated phosphoric acid or strong alkali
  • Surface: smooth transparent wall, low adhesion
  • Sterilisation: autoclavable (121℃) or dry-heat sterilizable
  • Size range: 100ml~1000ml
  • Construction: GL45 螺口

3. Manufacturing and inspection

Parts are lamp-worked and blown from borosilicate tube or rod, annealed as a whole to relieve forming stress; joints and sealing faces ground in pairs, keeping items of the same size interchangeable. Work is carried out at controlled stations to prevent scratches and cross-contamination.

Each item is checked for appearance, dimensions and fit before dispatch; sampling covers capacity or graduation deviation, joint fit and wall uniformity. Items from the same batch stay consistent in size and feel, which simplifies central storage and reordering. Inspection records and batch information are available with the goods.

Applications

Typical applications

reagent storage and sampling

Handles storage and dispensing in reagent storage and sampling and is a common supporting item in such workflows.

Routine preparation and sampling

Suited to solution preparation and sample transfer in daily work.

Incoming and batch comparison

Used for incoming checks and batch-to-batch consistency comparison.

Teaching and training

Straightforward structure and low operating threshold suit demonstrations and onboarding.

Transfer during sample prep

Carries material between weighing, dissolving, transfer and make-up, cutting cross-contamination and losses.

Method and workflow validation

In method development it supports replicate runs with one consistent vessel format, reducing systematic error.

Selection Guide

Choose by duty

Duty first, size second

Define the handling method, contact medium and temperature range before choosing material and interface.

Interface must match

Confirm the interface form before pairing with other apparatus; mismatches leak or will not assemble.

Material by medium

Choose material according to the contact medium and operating temperature; refer to the specification block.

Special requirements on request

Non-standard sizes, special interfaces or volume customisation are quoted separately.

Size versus throughput

Match size to the volume per run and the number of runs a day; oversize vessels add cleaning load, undersize ones force repeated batches.

Reading accuracy needed

Choose graduated or single-mark items when accurate metering matters; skip the accuracy premium for rough transfer work.

Service condition guide

ConditionSuitabilityNotes
Ambient storage and transferSuitableacids, salt solutions and organic solvents for long contact
Water bath or heating mantleSuitableheat gradually to avoid local overheating
Direct flameConditionaluse a wire gauze or mantle, never heat dry
Rapid heating or coolingConditionalkeep single-step shock within 120℃; thick walls need slower ramps
Vacuum serviceConditionalonly heavy-wall or purpose-made items; thin walls are not recommended
Hydrofluoric acid / fluoridesNot suitableattacks the glass matrix; use PTFE or PP instead
Hot concentrated alkali or phosphoric acidNot suitableprolonged contact etches the surface
AutoclavingSuitablestandard 121℃ cycle with moderate ramp rates

Usage Guide

Standard procedure

01

Step 01

Fill only to a practical working level, leaving room for mixing and thermal expansion

02

Step 02

Keep each stopper with its own bottle; mismatched joints leak

03

Step 03

Use rubber stoppers for alkaline solutions, as glass stoppers may seize on long storage

04

Step 04

Inspect for cleanliness, cracks and chipped edges before use; a crack spreads quickly under heat or load, so retire the item at once and never patch it.

05

Step 05

Assemble as required for storage and dispensing and confirm the connection is secure.

06

Step 06

Pour or transfer slowly along the wall to avoid impact on the base and splashing; with volatile or foaming media a slow stream cuts losses and cross-contamination.

07

Step 07

If heating is required, use a water bath or thermostatic device only; never apply direct flame.

08

Step 08

Clean promptly after use and choose the drying method according to the material; soak stubborn residues first and never scrape the wall with hard tools.

09

Step 09

Before first use, clean according to the material; soak in dilute acid where appropriate, rinse thoroughly and dry. New items may carry processing aids, so clean before contact with samples.

10

Step 10

Store without stacking or impact, in a ventilated and dry place; long stacking deforms the base, and volumetric ware should stand on its own.

11

Step 11

Keep one batch together and label different sizes separately to avoid picking the wrong item; once mixed, the batch is hard to identify when a problem appears.

12

Step 12

Keep a usage log with the commissioning date, media contacted and cleaning method, so replacement timing and traceability stay clear.

Maintenance & Notes

⚠️ Safety & handling notes

Seized stoppers

Alkaline solutions can bind glass stoppers; loosen periodically or use rubber stoppers.

Light and sealing

Use amber bottles for light-sensitive reagents and check stopper tightness for volatile ones.

Avoid thermal shock

Sudden temperature changes create stress, especially in thick walls and wide openings; heat and cool gradually.

Prevent mechanical damage

Avoid impact, dropping and scratching; never carry by a thin or weak section.

Clean promptly

Clean immediately after use; dried residues are harder to remove. Avoid abrasive cleaning tools.

Drying by material

Air-dry or dry at low temperature; volumetric ware must never be oven-dried.

Periodic inspection

Check for cracks, deformation and seal failure after long use and replace when needed.

Identification and traceability

Items should carry a clear label and usage record; mixed use makes cleaning history and media contact untraceable.

Retirement criteria

Stop using an item for critical work once it is cracked, chipped, worn at the graduations or leaking; never patch and return it to service.
