Silicone Tubing

ID 1mm~50mm · -60~230°C · Flexible & Chemically Inert

Silicone tubing is extruded from silicone rubber: flexible, transparent and chemically inert, staying soft from -60°C to 230°C without hardening. Inner diameters from 1mm to 50mm with uniform wall thickness mate well with glass tubes and metal fittings — a general-purpose connector for laboratory gas, liquid and vacuum lines.

Product Description

1. Overview

Silicone tubing is the general connector for laboratory lines. Silicone chains stay flexible in the cold and stable in heat, resisting cracking under repeated flexing — a routine choice for gas transfer, liquid lines and vacuum systems.

The transparent wall lets you watch the fluid; the material is inert to most aqueous solutions and dilute acids and alkalis with low extractables. Smooth bores keep flow resistance low, and the elastic grip holds glass tubes firmly after insertion.

Silicone is more gas-permeable than FKM, so high-vacuum systems should account for leakage; strong organic solvents swell silicone over time — switch to FKM or PTFE tubing for such duty.

🔬 Types & Features:
Wide range — soft from -60 to 230°C, never sticky.
Transparent — fluid state at a glance.
Inert — low extractables, no media contamination.
Elastic grip — firm hold after push-fit.

2. Key Parameters

  • Material: silicone rubber (VMQ)
  • ID: 1~50 mm (multiple sizes)
  • Wall: 1~3 mm
  • Temperature: -60°C to 230°C
  • Appearance: transparent or translucent
  • Use: gas, liquid, vacuum lines

3. Material & Workmanship

Extruded from quality silicone rubber with uniform wall and smooth bores. ID, wall thickness and appearance are inspected per batch within standard tolerances.

Rinse the bore with warm water or dilute ethanol and dry before use; cut ends squarely with a sharp blade for flat sealing faces.

💡 Tips: Thick walls for vacuum — kink resistance matters.
Wet the glass tube end for easier push-fitting.
Strong solvents call for FKM or PTFE instead.

Operation & Maintenance

Operation Guide

Standard guide for silicone tubing.

03

Before Use

  • Check for cracks, tackiness and discoloration
  • Cut square ends to length
  • Match ID to the fitting OD
  • Rinse the bore and dry before use
04

Procedure

  1. Measure and cut to length
  2. Fitting OD 0.5~1mm larger than tube ID works best
  3. Wet and twist for easier insertion
  4. Insert at least 2cm deep
  5. Add clamps for pressure or vacuum duty
  6. Inspect regularly and replace aged tubing
05

Cleaning & Care

  • Rinse the bore after use to prevent residue
  • Coil loosely for storage; avoid tight kinks
  • Store away from sunlight and ozone
  • Replace tacky, hardened or cracked tubing

💡 Lab veteran tips: Wet first — insertion is easier and gentler.
Two centimeters deep — the minimum for leak-free grip.
Thick walls for vacuum.
Tacky or hard means replace.

⚠️ Safety Notes

Media compatibility

strong organic solvents swell silicone

Pressure

silicone tubing is not pressure-rated for high pressure

Vacuum

account for gas permeation in high-vacuum systems

Heat

above 230°C switch to PTFE tubing
