Lab Jack

150×150 ~ 300×300mm · Rack and Pinion Lift · 5 ~ 20kg Capacity

A laboratory jack raises and lowers its platform smoothly through a rack-and-pinion mechanism, giving precise height control for heating mantles, water baths, stirrers and balances. The flat platform, smooth travel and firm locking replace improvised blocks and wooden shims, making set-ups easier and safer to adjust, especially where heating distance must be tuned precisely.

Product Description

1. Overview

The lab jack consists of two platforms joined by a scissor mechanism. Turning the side knob drives a rack that opens and closes the scissors, raising or lowering the platform. Travel is smooth and stepless, which makes it easy to set the distance between a vessel and a heat source precisely.

Platforms and scissors are made of stainless steel with a clean, corrosion-resistant finish, so heating mantles, water baths and stirrers can sit directly on the jack. The knob is self-locking, so a loaded platform does not creep downward under vibration.

Platforms run from 150×150mm to 300×300mm with capacities of 5 to 20kg. Small platforms suit small flasks, dropping set-ups and propping up balances, while large platforms carry mantles, water baths and multi-neck flasks. Allow a sensible margin on capacity when selecting.

🔬 Types & Features:
Stepless lift — rack-and-pinion knob for fine height control.
Reliable locking — the platform holds its position under load.
Stainless steel — corrosion resistant, takes heating and stirring equipment directly.
Matched range — four platform and capacity combinations.

2. Key Parameters

  • Material: stainless steel platform and scissor mechanism
  • Platform: 150×150 / 200×200 / 250×250 / 300×300 mm
  • Lift: rack-and-pinion knob, stepless, self-locking
  • Capacity: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 kg
  • Minimum height: 65 to 80 mm depending on platform size
  • Applications: height adjustment for mantles, water baths and balances

3. Material & Workmanship

Platforms and scissors are fabricated from stainless steel sheet and polished, giving a flat, easy-clean surface. Scissor pivots are closely fitted so the platform stays level and firm through the travel.

Handling tip: keep the load centred on the platform, and lubricate the scissor pivots lightly during long storage to keep travel smooth.

Applications

Typical Uses

Heating distance

fine control between mantle and flask

Water bath height

aligning the bath opening with the condenser

Balance support

raising a balance to a comfortable working height

Set-up lifting

assisted support where equipment is moved often

Industries

  • Chemical synthesis height adjustment for heating and reflux set-ups
  • Analytical testing propping equipment during sample preparation
  • Teaching laboratories showing and adjusting apparatus height
  • Pharmaceutical R&D optimising bench space in pilot set-ups
  • Quality control arranging balances and inspection equipment

Selection Guide

Select by the equipment carried

EquipmentSuggested platformNotes
Small flasks, dropping set-ups150 × 150mmSmall footprint, low capacity need
Magnetic stirrer200 × 200mmBalances capacity with working space
Heating mantle, water bath250 × 250mmPlatform should cover the equipment base
Multi-neck flask, large mantle300 × 300mmCapacity and stability come first

💡 Tips: Capacity margin — leaving a margin of more than 30 percent is the safer choice.
Platform size — slightly larger than the equipment base so nothing overhangs.
Centre the load — keeping the weight over the platform centre cuts side loading.
Travel check — confirm the minimum and maximum heights suit your adjustment range.

Operation & Maintenance

Operation Guide

The lab jack is used to set equipment height precisely. Correct placement and sensible loading are the keys to stability and safety. The steps below cover routine use.

03

Before Use

  • Check that the platform is flat and the scissors are not deformed
  • Confirm the knob turns smoothly and locks firmly
  • Estimate the weight to be carried and confirm it is within capacity
  • Place the jack on a stable bench surface
  • Add a non-slip mat if needed
04

Procedure

  1. Set the jack on a firm bench and lower it fully before loading
  2. Place the equipment with its centre of gravity over the platform centre
  3. Turn the knob slowly to raise the platform to the required height
  4. Tighten the knob further at the target height to confirm locking
  5. Push the equipment gently to confirm the platform does not wobble or sink
  6. Check that tubing and cables still have enough slack after adjustment
05

Cleaning & Care

  • Wipe water and reagent residues off the platform after use
  • Clear dust from the scissor gaps with a soft cloth or brush
  • Do not soak the platform in strong acid or alkali for long periods
  • Add a little lubricant at the pivots from time to time
  • Store dry and avoid leaving heavy loads on it

💡 Lab veteran tips: Load low, then lift — bring the jack down first so the scissors are not shocked.
Centre the load — an offset centre of gravity sharply reduces stability.
Do not overload — excess load deforms the scissors and tilts the platform.
Lubricate occasionally — a little oil at the pivots keeps travel smooth.

⚠️ Safety Notes

Stable placement

the platform must be level before loading

Locking check

confirm the knob is locked after raising

Centre of gravity

keep the load centred on the platform

Heat protection

mind the platform temperature when carrying heated equipment

Do not
  • Capacity limit: never exceed the rated load
