Product Description
1. Overview
A retort stand has two parts: the base and the rod. The base is a heavy cast iron square whose weight and low centre of gravity keep it in place on the bench. The rod passes through the centre hole and is locked from below with a nut, so loosening the nut allows height and rotation to be adjusted.
The rod is galvanised, which resists rust and corrosion so it will not seize after long service. With universal clamps, boss heads and iron rings it holds flasks, condensers, funnels and burettes at any height, and together with a lab jack and heating mantle it forms a complete reflux or distillation set-up.
Rod lengths run from 400mm to 1000mm. Short rods suit titration and simple heating, while long rods support condensation, reflux and multi-level set-ups. A larger, heavier base gives better stability, so heavy assemblies are best paired with the 800mm and longer versions.
🔬 Types & Features:
Cast iron base — its own weight holds the bench and resists tipping.
Galvanised rod — rust resistant, with a nut for height adjustment.
Five lengths — 400mm to 1000mm to match the set-up.
Common interface — rod diameter fits widely used clamps and rings.
2. Key Parameters
- Base: cast iron square base with anti-rust coating
- Rod: galvanised steel with threaded end and locking nut
- Lengths: 400 / 500 / 600 / 800 / 1000 mm
- Diameter: about 10 mm (short) and 12 mm (long)
- Accessories: universal clamps, flask clamps, rings, boss heads
- Applications: heating, titration, filtration and distillation set-ups
3. Material & Workmanship
The base is cast from iron and then derusted and surface coated to resist moisture and rust. The rod is galvanised steel with an even, dense coating that stands up to humid air and reagent vapours.
Handling tip: insert the rod into the centre hole and tighten the nut underneath before hanging any glassware. Wipe dry after use and apply a thin film of anti-rust oil during long storage.
