Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE vial is precision-machined from high-purity PTFE resin, with both body and cap manufactured from PTFE to ensure a fully fluorinated contact surface — eliminating metal ion contamination risks. Compact in design, these vials are ideal for sample storage, derivatization reactions, micro-analysis, and solution preparation.

Available with two sealing options: Screw caps (reopenable for easy sampling) and Crimp caps (single-use, ideal for long-term storage and transport). PTFE-lined septa can be incorporated for enhanced sealing performance, effectively preventing sample evaporation and contamination.

Available in sizes from 5ml to 100ml, widely used in pharmaceutical, environmental testing, food analysis, petrochemical, and materials science laboratories for sample preparation and analytical testing.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Sealing Performance: Screw caps with PTFE liners withstand positive/negative pressure
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, and organic solvents
  • Surface Properties: Non-stick, minimal sample residue, easy to clean

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin using precision machining or molding techniques. Both inner and outer surfaces are smooth with no burrs. The bottle mouth and cap are precision-matched for reliable sealing. All products are assembled and packaged in cleanroom environments.

Vials are available in translucent white (standard PTFE) and custom color options to meet different laboratory identification and traceability requirements.

Selection Guide

I. By Capacity

CapacityRecommended UseTypical Applications
5ml ~ 15mlMicro-sample storage, derivatizationGC/LC vial alternative, precious sample storage
20ml ~ 30mlRoutine sample storage, solution prepStandards, buffers, reagent storage
40ml ~ 60mlMedium volume sample processingSample prep, extraction, digestion
100mlLarge volume sample storageBulk sample collection, long-term storage

II. By Sealing Type

  • Screw Cap: Reopenable for sampling and reagent addition — suitable for frequent access applications
  • Crimp Cap: Single-use, provides the highest level of leak and evaporation protection — ideal for long-term storage and transport
  • Snap Cap: Quick open/close, easy operation — suitable for high-throughput labs

III. Septa Selection

  • PTFE Septa: Chemically inert, compatible with all corrosive chemicals — recommended as standard
  • Silicone Septa: Excellent sealing performance, suitable for organic solvents — lower chemical resistance than PTFE
  • PTFE+Silicone Composite Septa: Best of both — sealing performance + chemical inertness, ideal for high-end applications

💡 Selection Tip: For highly corrosive samples (HF, aqua regia, etc.), choose full PTFE (body + cap + septa).
For organic solvents, PTFE+silicone composite septa offer the best balance of sealing and inertness.
For ultra-trace analysis (ICP-MS level), choose PFA material vials for the lowest metal leaching.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE vials. Proper use and maintenance ensure sample safety and extend product life.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the vial for cracks, deformations, and ensure the mouth is smooth
  • Check the cap liner for integrity — no damage or deformation
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent to remove manufacturing residues
  • For trace analysis applications, soak in 10% nitric acid for 24 hours, rinse thoroughly with ultrapure water, and dry
04

II. Sample Loading & Sealing

  1. Transfer sample or solution to the vial — do not exceed 80% of capacity
  2. For screw caps: Align the cap with the mouth and tighten clockwise to appropriate torque — do not over-tighten
  3. For crimp caps: Use a crimper tool to securely seal the cap
  4. Check seal integrity — invert or gently press to confirm no leakage
05

III. Sampling Operation

  • Open the screw cap and sample immediately — minimize open time
  • Use clean transfer tools to avoid cross-contamination
  • Re-cap immediately after sampling
  • For volatile samples, operate in a fume hood
06

IV. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Routine Cleaning: Rinse promptly with ultrapure water — use lab detergent with a soft cloth or sponge
  • Stubborn Residues: Soak in dilute nitric acid — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Sterilization: Autoclave (121℃, 15-20min) or dry heat sterilization
  • Important: Do not use hard brushes or abrasives — they may scratch the inner surface
  • Cap Maintenance: Regularly inspect septa and liners — replace if aged or deformed
06

V. Important Notes

  • PTFE is relatively soft — avoid dropping or impact with hard objects
  • Do not use for high-temperature ashing (> 400℃)
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine
  • When storing corrosive chemicals, ensure caps are properly sealed and operate in well-ventilated areas
  • For long-term storage, periodically check seal integrity

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Seal ≠ Overtighten" — PTFE is self-lubricating, over-tightening may cause thread stripping or deformation. Hand-tighten until you feel slight resistance. For absolute sealing (volatile samples), wrap threads with PTFE tape for extra security.
For long-term storage, place a PTFE film between cap and mouth for enhanced sealing.
