High-purity PTFE -196℃ ~ 260℃ HF-Resistant No Leaching/Adsorption

📐 Selection Guidelines: Volumetric flask selection primarily considers volumetric accuracy, chemical compatibility, and capacity. HF-based systems → PTFE is the only reliable choice (glass is corroded by HF). Ultra-trace analysis (ICP-MS level) → PFA recommended (translucent for easy level viewing). Choose the closest standard capacity to your target volume.

Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE volumetric flask is manufactured from high-purity PTFE resin through cold pressing and high-temperature sintering. PTFE offers exceptional chemical resistance and is inert to almost all chemicals and solvents, making it ideal for HF-based sample preparation and ultra-trace analysis.

Featuring a classic pear-shaped body with a narrow neck, equipped with a PTFE ground stopper or screw cap. PTFE volumetric flasks eliminate leaching issues associated with glass in HF systems, while ultra-low metal leaching ensures accurate trace analysis results.

Available in sizes from 25ml to 1000ml, widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, environmental testing, and geological analysis industries.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, and organic solvents
  • Surface Properties: Non-stick, low friction coefficient, easy to clean
  • Volumetric Accuracy: Class A precision available

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin, precision cold-pressed in molds, and sintered in high-temperature furnaces — ensuring dense structure, smooth surface, and bubble-free finish. The stopper and neck are precision-ground for reliable sealing and volumetric accuracy.

All products are assembled and packaged in cleanroom environments to ensure contamination-free surfaces.

Selection Guide

I. By Volumetric System

Volumetric SystemRecommended MaterialRecommended Sealing
Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) SystemsPTFE (only reliable choice)PTFE ground stopper
Aqua Regia / Concentrated AcidsPTFEPTFE ground stopper
Strong Alkali SystemsPTFEPTFE ground stopper
Ultra-trace Analysis (ICP-MS)PFA (recommended)Screw cap
Organic Solvent SystemsPTFEScrew cap

II. By Capacity

  • 25ml ~ 50ml: Micro sample volumetric, precious sample analysis
  • 100ml ~ 250ml: Routine volumetric operations
  • 500ml ~ 1000ml: Large volume samples, batch analysis

III. By Transparency Requirement

  • PTFE Volumetric Flask: Opaque white — requires level indicator or gravimetric method
  • PFA Volumetric Flask: Translucent — direct meniscus viewing for easier volumetric

💡 Selection Tip: For ultra-trace analysis (ICP-MS level), PFA is strongly recommended for its ultra-low metal leaching and translucent properties for easy level viewing.
For HF-containing digestates, PTFE is the only reliable choice — glass volumetric flasks are corroded by HF.
Always perform volumetric operations at constant temperature (typically 20℃) for maximum accuracy.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE volumetric flasks. Proper use and maintenance are critical for volumetric accuracy.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the flask for cracks, deformations, and ensure the stopper fits properly
  • Clean the flask inside and out with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent to remove manufacturing residues
  • For trace analysis applications, soak in 10% nitric acid for 24 hours, rinse thoroughly with ultrapure water, and dry
  • Ensure the flask is at constant temperature (typically 20℃) before volumetric
04

II. Volumetric Operation

  1. Transfer the sample solution to the flask, rinsing the original container with solvent multiple times
  2. Add solvent to near the mark, then add dropwise with a dropper or pipette to approximately 0.5mm below the mark
  3. For PTFE flasks (opaque), use gravimetric method with an analytical balance or a level indicator
  4. For PFA flasks (translucent), observe the meniscus bottom tangent to the mark
  5. Cap and invert to mix thoroughly at least 10 times to ensure homogeneity
05

III. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Routine Cleaning: Clean promptly after use with ultrapure water
  • Stubborn Residues: Soak in dilute nitric acid — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Important: Do not use hard brushes or abrasives — they may scratch the inner surface, affecting accuracy
  • Calibration: Annual calibration is recommended to verify accuracy
06

IV. Important Notes

  • PTFE is relatively soft — avoid dropping or impact with hard objects
  • Do not heat or store reactive substances in volumetric flasks
  • Perform volumetric at constant temperature (typically 20℃) — temperature variations affect accuracy
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "PTFE is opaque — weigh for accuracy" — PTFE volumetric flasks require gravimetric volumetric: weigh the empty flask, add solvent to target weight, calculate volume from density. Accuracy can reach 0.1%.
For PFA flasks, keep your eye level with the meniscus for accurate reading.
Transfer the solution to a storage bottle promptly — do not store solutions in volumetric flasks long-term.
Calibrate the flask annually (gravimetric water method) to verify accuracy.
