Porcelain Evaporating Dishes

Round / Flat Bottom · 60mm~150mm · Everyday Vessel for Evaporation

Porcelain evaporating dishes are the classic vessel for evaporation. Made of quality hard porcelain with a wide shallow profile, they offer a large heating surface and fast concentration. Round-bottom and flat-bottom forms in 60mm to 150mm diameters serve solution concentration, crystallization and dry-down pretreatment over water baths or hot plates.

Product Description

1. Overview

With a wide mouth, shallow body and thin wall, porcelain evaporating dishes expose a large surface for fast evaporation. The dense hard-porcelain body and smooth glaze tolerate direct heating as well as gentle water-bath work.

Round-bottom dishes help liquid pooling and stirring; flat-bottom dishes heat evenly and sit steadily. Five diameters from 60mm to 150mm cover micro to moderate batch work. Crystals and residues are easy to scrape off the glazed surface.

Fill to no more than two-thirds volume. Water baths suit heat-sensitive samples; direct heating requires a wire gauze and controlled flame to prevent bumping.

🔬 Types & Features:
Wide and shallow — large surface, fast concentration.
Smooth glaze — crystals scrape off easily.
Two forms — round for pooling, flat for even heating.
Five diameters — 60~150mm for common batches.

2. Key Parameters

  • Material: hard porcelain (glazed inside and out)
  • Diameter: 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 150 mm
  • Form: round-bottom / flat-bottom
  • Corrosion: resists common acids and alkalis; no HF
  • Heating: water bath / hot plate / wire gauze flame
  • Accessories: watch glasses (dust cover), glass rods

3. Material & Workmanship

Formed from quality ceramic stock and fired at high temperature with glazing. Uniform wall thickness gives moderate heat conduction and crack resistance. Appearance and dimensions are inspected batch by batch.

Pair dishes with matching watch glasses for dust protection; for batch work, stock a diameter ladder.

Operation & Maintenance

Operation Guide

Standard operating guide for porcelain evaporating dishes.

03

Before Use

  • Check for cracks and glaze damage
  • Clean the inner wall and air-dry
  • Prepare glass rod, watch glass and heater
  • Confirm samples contain no HF
04

Procedure

  1. Fill to no more than two-thirds volume
  2. Heat over a water bath or wire gauze on a low flame
  3. Stir with a glass rod to prevent bumping
  4. Reduce heat as liquid approaches dryness
  5. Finish drying with residual heat or transfer to a desiccator
  6. Collect crystals or residues after cooling
05

Cleaning & Care

  • Soak and clean promptly; crystals dissolve in warm water
  • Dilute acid soaks remove stubborn residues
  • Avoid scratching the glaze
  • Handle gently and store on stable shelving

💡 Lab veteran tips: Never overfill — two-thirds maximum to prevent overflow.
Keep stirring — bumping risk peaks near dryness.
Water bath for delicate samples — gentle, controlled.
Residual-heat finish — stop heating early and let it coast.
