Product Description

The chromatography column is the essential glassware for column chromatography separation and purification. Its straight glass tube body features a standard taper joint at the upper end for connection to solvent reservoirs, constant-pressure funnels, or chromatography accessories, and an outlet at the lower end for fraction collection.

Manufactured from high-borosilicate glass 3.3, the column offers excellent clarity for real-time observation of bed height, sample migration bands, and separation performance. Precision inner diameter control ensures consistent column efficiency, while the standard taper joint design enables flexible combination with a wide range of standard joint accessories for different chromatography modes (normal phase, reverse phase, gel filtration, ion exchange, etc.).

Available in inner diameters from 10mm to 100mm+ and effective lengths from 200mm to 2500mm and beyond, covering applications from micro-analysis and laboratory-scale separations to industrial-scale preparative chromatography. Custom lengths (1000mm, 1500mm, 2000mm, and more) are available upon request.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: Meets ISO 3585, low thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance up to 280°C, excellent chemical durability
  • Multi‑Standard Compliance: Precision‑ground 1:10 taper meets GB/T, ASTM E, and ISO 3585 standard taper specifications for full interchangeability
  • High Clarity: >92% light transmission for real-time bed observation
  • Precision ID: Accurate inner diameter control ensures consistent column efficiency and separation reproducibility
  • Extended Length Options: Effective lengths up to 2500mm and beyond for industrial-scale preparative applications
  • Thick-Wall Design: Enhanced strength and safety using premium borosilicate glass

Quality Assurance

Each chromatography column is inspected for dimensional accuracy, taper precision, and surface finish to ensure reliable sealing with all standard joint components. Custom bulk orders are welcome.

Tip: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use. Use a column frit or glass wool at the bottom to prevent packing loss. Extra-long columns (>1000mm) require special attention to vertical mounting and support to prevent bending or breakage. Handle glass columns with care.

Applications

Purification of natural products, synthetic compounds, organic intermediates

Protein Purification

Affinity, ion exchange, and gel filtration chromatography

Environmental Analysis

Enrichment and separation of organic pollutants in water samples

Pharmaceutical R&D

Purification of drug intermediates, impurity separation

Tip: Always use matching standard joint sizes for optimal sealing. Columns can be flexibly combined with other standard joint glassware to build complete chromatography systems. Extra-long columns (>1000mm) should be used with specialized support stands for safety.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Before Use

  • Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches on any joint
  • Clean all joint surfaces with a soft cloth to remove particulates
  • Confirm that the joint size matches your accessories
  • Prepare packing material, eluent, and collection vessels
  • For extra-long columns, confirm that the support stand is secure
04

Packing Procedure

  • Place a small amount of glass wool or a frit at the bottom as support
  • Mount the column vertically on a stand or specialized support
  • Add a small volume of eluent to wet the column
  • Slowly add packing material while gently tapping the column for even settling
  • Add a layer of glass wool or filter paper on top of the packing
05

Chromatography Operation

  • Connect the upper joint to a solvent reservoir or constant-pressure funnel
  • Apply the sample and begin elution
  • Collect fractions based on the separation profile
  • Adjust flow rate to optimize separation
06

Cleaning & Storage

  • Rinse immediately after use with appropriate solvent
  • Use soft brushes and appropriate detergents for the tube interior
  • Air dry and store with protective paper between ground joints
  • Protect joints from impacts
  • Extra-long columns: store horizontally on dedicated racks to prevent bending
