Product Description

Colorimetric tubes with stoppers are essential matched-set apparatus for water quality analysis and photometric chemical determinations. Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, each tube features precise graduations and a precision-ground glass stopper for secure sealing. Supplied in matched sets of 12, they ensure minimal inter-tube variability for accurate colorimetric comparisons.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant · Thermal shock resistance up to 280°C · Excellent chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, and organic solvents
  • Matched Set of 12: Uniform tube diameter and height across each set ensures minimal colorimetric error
  • Superior Light Transmission: High-purity glass delivers exceptional clarity for precise spectrophotometric measurements
  • Ground Glass Stopper: Precision-ground for a secure seal · Prevents sample evaporation and external contamination
  • Accurate Graduations: Permanent, clear markings at key volume points · Verified for accuracy
  • Chemically Resistant: Compatible with acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and common organic solvents

Quality Assurance

Each tube undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, light transmission testing, and seal integrity verification. Matched sets are carefully selected to ensure tube-to-tube consistency within strict tolerances, providing reliable, reproducible data for your colorimetric analyses.

Note: Colorimetric tubes are designed as matched sets — always use the complete set of 12 for best results. Inspect tubes for scratches or residues before use, as these may affect light transmission and analytical accuracy. Regular calibration against standard solutions is recommended to maintain set consistency.

Operation & Maintenance

Operation Guide

03

Preparation Before Use

  • Inspect each tube for cracks, chips, or scratches — damaged tubes must be replaced immediately
  • Ensure tube walls are clean and transparent — free from fingerprints, grease, or residues
  • Rinse tubes 2–3 times with distilled water before use
  • Verify stoppers fit snugly without wobbling or binding
04

Sample Preparation & Colorimetric Procedure

  • Transfer sample and standard series solutions quantitatively into the tubes
  • Add colorimetric reagent, then secure stopper and invert to mix (avoid vigorous shaking which may introduce bubbles)
  • Allow reaction to proceed according to the method specification
  • Wipe tube exteriors clean — ensure no droplets or smudges that could affect light transmission
  • In spectrophotometer, zero with blank, then measure standards and samples sequentially
  • Construct standard curve and calculate sample concentrations
05

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent dried residues from adhering to glass surfaces
  • Routine cleaning: Use mild detergent and a soft brush — rinse 3 times with distilled water
  • Stubborn residues: Soak in dilute nitric acid or specialized cleaning solution for 2–4 hours
  • Air dry inverted on a clean rack, then store in a dust-free cabinet
  • For extended storage, place a small piece of lint-free paper between the stopper and tube to prevent sticking
  • Always use matched tubes as a complete set — if a single tube requires replacement, recalibrate the entire set

Safety Precautions

  • When handling strong acids, alkalis, or toxic samples, wear appropriate PPE (gloves + goggles)
  • If reactions produce toxic or hazardous gases, perform all steps in a fume hood
Do not
  • Do not use cracked or damaged tubes — they may break during handling
  • Never place colorimetric tubes directly on hot plates or open flames
  • Do not interchange stoppers between tubes — each stopper is ground to match its specific tube
