Marking Technology: Graduations are applied using high-temperature fused white enamel that bonds with the glass surface, providing exceptional resistance to acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and repeated cleaning cycles.

Product Description

Graduated test tubes are an essential upgrade to standard test tubes, incorporating precise volume markings directly on the tube body. Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, these tubes feature clear, permanent white enamel graduations that enable rapid volume estimation during routine laboratory work — eliminating the need for separate graduated cylinders or volumetric pipettes for quick measurements. One of the most frequently used basic laboratory tools, graduated test tubes are indispensable for educational settings, routine chemical analysis, sample preparation, and any application requiring rapid volume assessment.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant · Low thermal expansion · Thermal shock resistance up to 280°C · Resistant to acids and alkalis
  • Clear Volume Graduations: Permanent white enamel markings · Key volume points verified for accuracy
  • Rapid Estimation: Eliminates separate measuring tools — improves workflow efficiency
  • Superior Clarity: High-purity glass enables clear observation of meniscus and sample condition
  • Uniform Wall Thickness: Even heat distribution — reduces thermal stress
  • Autoclavable: 121°C / 15 psi / 20 minutes steam sterilization
  • Complete Range: Seven capacities from 5ml to 50ml

Value Proposition: One tube = Test tube + Graduated cylinder functionality. Ideal for educational laboratories, routine analysis, and rapid sample assessment — the most cost-effective basic laboratory tool.

Quality Assurance

Each graduated test tube undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, graduation accuracy verification, and visual inspection. The white enamel markings are permanently fused to the glass surface, remaining legible through repeated washing and autoclaving cycles. Our products meet laboratory glassware quality standards.

Note: Graduations on test tubes are intended for quick estimation only. For precise volumetric measurements, use calibrated volumetric flasks, pipettes, or burettes. Always inspect tubes for cracks or chips before use, and ensure graduations are clear and complete.

Applications

Typical Application Areas

Education

Rapid volume estimation in high school and university chemistry/biology laboratory courses · Solution preparation practice

Routine Chemical Analysis

Quick volume confirmation during sample preparation · Reagent addition volume control

Pharmaceutical QC

Rapid volume verification in routine testing · Standard solution aliquoting

Environmental & Food Testing

Rapid volume assessment of water samples and food extracts

Research

Quick volume estimation during preliminary exploratory experiments

Application Comparison

Graduated Tube vs Cylinder

Graduated tubes are for rapid estimation; cylinders are for precise measurement

Graduated Tube vs Pipette

Graduated tubes are for volume reading; pipettes are for volume transfer

Graduated Tube vs Volumetric Flask

Graduated tubes are for quick estimation; flasks are for precise fixed-volume preparation

Tip: Graduated test tubes are the most basic and economical volume reading tool in the laboratory — ideal for applications where precision is not critical but rapid volume information is needed. For experiments requiring precise volumes, use calibrated volumetric flasks or pipettes.

Graduated Test Tube Operation Guide

03

Preparation Before Use

  • Inspect tubes for cracks, chips, or rim damage
  • Verify graduations are clear and legible — no fading or damage
  • Wash with mild detergent and soft brush — rinse 3 times with distilled water
  • Autoclave at 121°C / 15 psi / 20 minutes
04

Volume Reading Procedure

  • Place the tube vertically on a level surface
  • Read at the bottom of the meniscus (standard graduated cylinder reading technique)
  • For colored solutions, read at the bottom of the meniscus
  • For opaque solutions, read at the top of the liquid surface (note the method used)
  • Readability is generally 1/2 of the smallest graduation interval
05

Routine Operation

  • Pour slowly or transfer with a dropper liquid into the tube
  • For precise adjustment, use a dropper to add or remove small volumes
  • After reading the volume, proceed directly with the next experimental step
06

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent residue adhesion
  • Routine cleaning: Mild detergent + soft brush — rinse 3 times with distilled water
  • Stubborn residues: Soak in dilute nitric acid or specialized cleaning solution for 2–4 hours
  • Avoid strong alkaline cleaners or abrasive brushes that may damage graduations
  • Air dry inverted or place in oven at 60°C until dry
  • Store upright in dedicated test tube racks

Safety Precautions

  • Inspect tubes for cracks or scratches before use — damaged tubes may break when heated
  • When handling flammable, explosive, or toxic samples, work in a fume hood
  • Wear protective gloves and goggles when handling strong acids and alkalis
Do not
  • Never place graduated test tubes directly on hot plates or open flames
  • Take readings under consistent lighting conditions to avoid parallax error
