Rotor Compatibility: These tubes are designed for standard centrifuge rotors with tube apertures of 13mm–30mm. For high-speed or large-volume applications, we strongly recommend using rubber cushions or adapters to distribute stress and extend tube service life.

Product Description

Conical centrifuge tubes are essential for laboratory centrifugation and sample preparation. Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, the tapered conical design ensures that pelleted materials are tightly packed at the tube tip, facilitating efficient supernatant removal and pellet recovery. Uniform wall thickness and high mechanical strength allow these tubes to withstand standard centrifugation forces (up to 5,000 × g) across a wide range of rotor types.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant · Low thermal expansion · Thermal shock resistance up to 280°C · Resistant to acids, alkalis, and organic solvents
  • Conical Bottom Design: Pellet concentration at the tube tip for easy observation, transfer, and resuspension
  • High Mechanical Strength: Uniform wall construction ensures reliable performance under standard RCF conditions (up to 5,000 × g)
  • Superior Clarity: High-purity glass enables clear visualization of pellet formation and color changes
  • Clear Graduations: Permanent volume markings for quantitative sample handling
  • Autoclavable: Steam sterilization at 121°C / 15 psi for 20 minutes
  • Chemical Resistant: Compatible with acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and common organic solvents

Quality Assurance

Each centrifuge tube undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, wall thickness uniformity testing, and mechanical strength verification to ensure safe and reliable performance under high-speed centrifugation. Our products meet laboratory consumable standards, delivering consistent, reproducible results for your sample preparation workflows.

Note: Glass centrifuge tubes should be inspected for cracks or chips before each use. Always use appropriate tube adapters or rubber cushions to avoid direct hard contact with rotors. Select cleaning and sterilization methods appropriate for your specific sample types.

Conical Centrifuge Tube Operation Guide

03

Preparation Before Use

  • Inspect each tube for cracks, chips, or rim damage — damaged tubes must never be used for centrifugation
  • Ensure tube walls are clean and transparent — free from residues or grease
  • Rinse 2–3 times with distilled water and dry before use (or sterilize as required by protocol)
  • Autoclave conditions: 121°C / 15 psi / 20 minutes
04

Centrifugation Procedure

  • Counterbalance precisely: Tubes must be symmetrically placed with weight deviation ≤ 0.1g to protect the rotor bearing
  • Fill volume: Do not exceed 80% of the nominal capacity to prevent spillover during centrifugation
  • Rotor matching: Ensure tubes fit the rotor aperture — use rubber cushions or adapters when necessary
  • Centrifuge settings: Adjust speed and time according to sample type. Recommended RCF for glass tubes: ≤ 5,000 × g
  • Acceleration/Braking: Use medium acceleration/deceleration settings to avoid sudden stress on the glass
05

Post-Centrifugation Handling

  • Allow tubes to stand for 2–3 minutes before opening to prevent aerosol dispersion
  • Use a pipette or transfer pipette to carefully aspirate the supernatant without disturbing the pellet
  • For pellet collection, resuspend in a small volume of liquid and transfer as needed
06

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent sample residues from adhering
  • Routine cleaning: Mild detergent + soft brush — rinse 3 times with distilled water
  • Stubborn residues: Soak in dilute nitric acid or specialized cleaning solution for 2–4 hours
  • Invert to air dry or place in oven at 60°C until dry
  • Store upright in dedicated tube racks to avoid impact and crushing

Safety Precautions

  • Always secure caps or seal with Parafilm during centrifugation
  • When working with biohazardous, corrosive, or highly toxic samples, perform all steps in a biosafety cabinet or fume hood
  • Glass centrifuge tubes are not suitable for dry-heat sterilization (above 160°C) — use autoclaving instead
  • If unusual vibration or noise occurs during centrifugation, stop immediately and inspect
Do not
  • Never use cracked or damaged centrifuge tubes — they may shatter at high speed
  • Open tubes slowly and gently after centrifugation to avoid aerosol generation
