Product Description

The Claisen adapter is a two-way or three-way connecting adapter in standard joint glassware for connecting multiple components. It features a standard taper outer joint at the upper end and on the parallel sidearm, and a standard taper inner joint at the lower end — all three joints are the same size. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it offers excellent thermal and chemical resistance.

Note: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use to prevent sticking. Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing. Check stopcock sealing before use on models with lower side arm.

Selection Tip: For standard anaerobic/anhydrous operations, the two-way Claisen adapter is recommended. For temperature monitoring, choose the model with thermometer joint. For sampling or drainage, choose the model with lower side arm.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Preparation

Inspect adapter for cracks, chips, or scratched joints
Clean all joint surfaces with a soft cloth or cotton swab
Apply a small amount of vacuum grease if joints are too tight
With stopcock models: Check smooth rotation and O-ring integrity

Installation & Connection

Connect the lower inner joint to the flask
Connect the upper outer joint to the condenser or distillation head
Connect the sidearm outer joint to an addition funnel, thermometer adapter, or other accessory
Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force
Secure components with clamps for stability

Disassembly & Cleaning

Gently twist to detach components
Clean immediately after use to prevent residue buildup
Wash joints with soft brush and detergent, avoid hard objects
Glass stopcock can be cleaned with organic solvents
PTFE stopcock can be cleaned with organic solvents; maintain O-ring
Air dry after washing, store with soft paper between joints
