Fritted Gas Inlet/Outlet Tube

Gas Dispersion Tube · 14# ~ 29# · G1/G2/G3 Frit · 150mm Length

The fritted gas inlet/outlet tube is a specialized glass tube for introducing gases into or evacuating gases from reaction systems in standard taper glassware. The product features a standard taper joint at the top, a hose connection on the side for vacuum or inert gas lines, a long glass tube extending downward (standard 150mm length), and a sintered glass frit at the tip. The frit disperses incoming gas into fine bubbles, significantly increasing gas‑liquid or gas‑solid contact area for efficient reactions, while also preventing solid particles from being drawn into vacuum lines during evacuation. Manufactured from high‑borosilicate glass 3.3 with precision‑ground 1:10 taper joints, the product fully complies with Chinese National Standards (GB/T), US ASTM E, and ISO 3585 standard taper specifications. Available in G1/G2/G3 frit grades, straight/15° angled/90° bent configurations, with custom lengths available upon request.

Product Description

The fritted gas inlet/outlet tube is a specialized glass tube for introducing or evacuating gases from reaction systems in standard taper glassware. Its defining feature is a sintered glass frit at the tip of a long glass tube extending downward from the standard taper joint. The top features a standard taper joint for connection to reaction vessels, with a side hose connection for vacuum pumps or inert gas supplies.

During gas introduction, gas flows through the tube and exits through the frit, which disperses it into fine bubbles for efficient gas‑liquid or gas‑solid contact. During evacuation, the frit prevents solid particles from being drawn into vacuum lines, protecting downstream equipment. This dual functionality makes it indispensable in Schlenk line operations, hydrogenation reactions, gas scrubbing, and vacuum filtration setups.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: Meets ISO 3585, low thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance up to 280°C, excellent chemical durability
  • Multi‑Standard Compliance: Precision‑ground 1:10 taper meets GB/T, ASTM E, and ISO 3585 standard taper specifications
  • Sintered Glass Frit: Available in G1 (coarse, 100-200μm), G2 (medium, 20-35μm), and G3 (fine, 10-20μm) — frit sintered directly to the glass tube
  • Extended Length: Standard 150mm length delivers gas deep into the reaction vessel for maximum contact
  • Multiple Configurations: Straight (standard), 15° angled, and 90° bent options for different apparatus setups

Quality Assurance

Each fritted gas tube is inspected for taper accuracy, frit integrity, and dimensional precision to ensure reliable sealing and optimal gas dispersion performance. Custom bulk orders are welcome.

Tip: The frit at the tip disperses gas into fine bubbles for efficient gas‑liquid contact. Check the frit for blockage before use. For corrosive gases, consider PTFE‑coated or specialized configurations.

Applications

Typical Uses

Gas Introduction

Introduce inert gases (N₂/Ar) into reaction systems — the frit disperses gas into fine bubbles for efficient gas‑liquid contact

Gas Scrubbing/Drying

Pass gas through scrubbing or drying media with uniform dispersion

Vacuum Evacuation

Connect to vacuum pumps — the frit prevents solid particles from being drawn into vacuum lines

Schlenk Line Operations

Gas inlet/outlet for inert atmosphere work — frit prevents liquid splashing

Continuous Flow Chemistry

Gas feed port with uniform dispersion

Hydrogenation/Oxidation

Introduce H₂ or O₂ for catalytic reactions with improved gas dissolution

Compatible Equipment

Standard joint flasks, reaction tubes, Schlenk tubes

Schlenk lines, vacuum manifolds

Vacuum pumps, inert gas cylinders

Gas scrubbing/drying apparatus

Tip: The fritted gas tube's key advantage is gas dispersion through the frit. Choose length based on vessel depth to ensure the frit is submerged. Always use matching standard joint sizes for optimal sealing.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Before Use

  • Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches on any joint
  • Check that the frit is intact and not blocked
  • Clean all joint surfaces with a soft cloth to remove particulates
  • Confirm that the joint size matches your flask or reaction tube
04

Installation

  • Insert the top joint into the reaction vessel and gently twist to seat
  • Position the tube so the frit is submerged below the liquid surface or near the reaction site
  • Connect the side hose fitting to vacuum or inert gas lines
  • For vacuum applications, ensure all joints are well‑seated
05

Gas Introduction Operation

    <
  • Gas enters through the side hose fitting and travels down the tube
  • The frit disperses gas into fine bubbles before it enters the reaction mixture
  • Bubble size depends on frit grade: G1 → coarse, G2 → medium, G3 → fine
  • Adjust gas flow rate to avoid damaging the frit or splashing liquid
06

Cleaning & Storage

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent frit blockage
  • Soak in appropriate solvent and gently brush the frit surface
  • For severe blockage, use ultrasonic cleaning or back‑flushing
  • Air dry and store with protective paper between ground joints
  • Protect the frit from impacts
