Conical / Cylindrical · Optional Stopcock · Various Joint Sizes
The standard joint addition funnel is a specialized device for adding solid
or liquid materials to reaction systems in standard joint glassware.
Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3 (ISO 3585), it is
available in two configurations: conical addition funnel (specified by
top diameter, 30mm~240mm) for solid powder addition, and cylindrical
addition funnel (specified by volume, 50ml~1000ml) for liquid or
powder quantitative addition. The lower port features a standard 1:10
taper ground glass joint for secure connection to flasks or three-neck
flasks. Optional glass or PTFE stopcocks enable precise addition control.
Widely used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical R&D, and educational labs.

Product Description
The standard joint addition funnel is a specialized device for adding
solid or liquid materials to reaction systems in standard joint glassware,
widely used in organic synthesis, pharmaceutical R&D, and educational labs.
Available in two configurations: conical and cylindrical.
Conical Addition Funnel
The conical addition funnel features a tapered/cone-shaped design with
a wide open top for easy addition of solid powders, granules, or liquids.
Specified by top diameter (30mm~240mm), it connects to reaction flasks
via the standard 1:10 taper ground glass joint. The smooth inner wall
ensures efficient material flow with minimal residue. Optional glass
or PTFE stopcock enables precise addition control.
Cylindrical Addition Funnel
The cylindrical addition funnel features a cylindrical body with a
narrow neck for insertion into tight flask openings. Specified by
volume (50ml~1000ml), it typically includes graduation marks for
accurate measurement. The lower standard 1:10 taper ground glass joint
provides secure connection to reaction flasks. Standard or optional
glass or PTFE stopcocks enable quantitative addition control.
Cylindrical addition funnels are more suitable for applications
requiring precise addition rate control.
Two Configurations: Conical (by diameter) and Cylindrical (by volume) for different materials
Standard Joint: 1:10 taper, precision ground for reliable sealing
Optional Stopcock: Glass or PTFE for precise addition control
Multiple Sizes: DIN (EU) 14/20 ~ 29/42 and ASTM equivalents
Conical: Top diameter 30mm ~ 240mm full range
Cylindrical: Volume 50ml ~ 1000ml full range
High Transparency: Easy observation of addition process
Chemical Resistant: Suitable for various organic solvents
Quality Assurance
Every addition funnel undergoes strict dimensional inspection, joint taper testing,
and thermal resistance testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
Note: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use to prevent sticking.
Conical funnels are ideal for solid powder addition; cylindrical funnels are ideal
for liquid or powder quantitative addition. Select stopcock material based on
the properties of materials being added. Use accessories of the same joint size
for optimal sealing.
Applications
Typical Applications
Solid Addition
Conical funnels for adding powders, granules, crystals to reaction flasks
Liquid Addition
Cylindrical funnels for quantitative liquid reagent addition
Organic Synthesis
Material addition and supplementation during reactions
Pharmaceutical R&D
Raw material addition and intermediate feeding in API synthesis
Education
University chemistry and pharmaceutical lab teaching
Inert Atmosphere
Schlenk technique operations for oxygen-free handling
Addition funnel (top) → Addition port / Solid feeding port
Stopcock → Addition rate control (optional)
Tip: Conical addition funnels are the preferred choice for
solid feeding, while cylindrical addition funnels are ideal for quantitative
liquid addition. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing.
Adding a stopcock enables precise addition control.
Std Joint Addition Funnel · Selection Guide
Select the right addition funnel based on your material addition needs:
📐 Conical Addition Funnel
🧂 Solid Powder Addition
For powders, granules, crystals, and other solid materials.
Recommended: 75mm / 100mm · 24/40
🧪 Large Particle Solids
For large granules or chunk materials.
Recommended: 120mm / 150mm · 24/40
🔬 Micro Solids
For small amounts of powder or micro materials.
Recommended: 30mm / 40mm · 14# / 19#
🎯 Controlled Addition
For applications requiring controlled or intermittent addition.
Recommended: Conical Funnel + PTFE Stopcock
🧴 Cylindrical Addition Funnel
💧 Liquid Quantitative Addition
For precise measurement and addition of liquid reagents.
Selection Tip: Use conical funnels for solid powders and granules,
selecting top diameter based on particle size. Use cylindrical funnels for liquids,
selecting volume based on addition quantity. For corrosive systems, choose PTFE stopcock;
for general use, glass stopcock is suitable. Contact our technical team for assistance.
Operation & Maintenance
User Guide
03
Preparation
Inspect funnel for cracks, chips, or scratched joints
Clean joint surfaces with a soft cloth or cotton swab
Apply a small amount of vacuum grease if joints are too tight
Stopcock models: Check smooth rotation; glass stopcock may need vacuum grease
PTFE stopcock requires no grease; check O-ring integrity
04
Installation & Connection
Connect the lower joint to the reaction flask or three-neck flask
Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force
Secure the funnel with a clamp for stability
For stopcock models: Confirm stopcock is closed before adding material
05
Addition Operation
Solid Addition (Conical): Slowly add solid materials through the top opening
Liquid Addition (Cylindrical): Pour liquid through the top, monitor graduations for volume control
With Stopcock Control: Slowly open the stopcock to control addition rate
Monitor material flow during addition
Use a glass rod to assist solid addition and prevent clogging
06
Disassembly & Cleaning
Gently twist to detach the funnel after addition
Clean immediately after use to prevent residue buildup
Wash joints with soft brush and detergent, avoid hard objects
Glass stopcock can be cleaned with organic solvents
PTFE stopcock can be cleaned with organic solvents; maintain O-ring
Air dry after washing, store with soft paper between joints

Safety Tips
Ensure proper ventilation and fire safety when adding flammable materials
PTFE stopcock maximum operating temperature: 250°C
Always work in a fume hood when handling hazardous chemicals
Do not
Do not use cracked or chipped addition funnels for experiments
Avoid material clogging in the funnel neck during solid addition
