Straight Connector

10/19 ~ 24/40 · Three Joint Types · Various Lengths

The straight connector is one of the most fundamental connecting adapters in standard joint glassware. Manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass 3.3, compliant with ASTM E438 Type I Class A standards, it features identical standard taper joints at both ends for extending apparatus length or connecting two components with the same joint size. Available in three joint type configurations: Inner/Inner, Outer/Outer, and Outer/Inner. Joint sizes cover 10/19 ~ 24/40 full range. Some models can also serve as air condensers. Widely used in organic synthesis, distillation, and reflux apparatus.

Product Description

The straight connector is one of the most fundamental connecting adapters in standard joint glassware, used for extending apparatus length or connecting two components with the same joint size. Both ends feature identical standard taper joints. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it meets ASTM E438 Type I Class A standards.

Joint Types

  • Inner/Inner: Both ends are inner joints (female) — receives outer joint components
  • Outer/Outer: Both ends are outer joints (male) — fits into inner joint components
  • Outer/Inner: One outer joint and one inner joint — connects different joint types

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, low expansion, thermal shock 280°C
  • Standard Joint: 1:10 taper, precision ground for reliable sealing
  • Three Types: Inner/Inner, Outer/Outer, Outer/Inner for different connection needs
  • Multiple Sizes: 10/19 ~ 24/40 full range, DIN and ASTM compatible
  • Multiple Lengths: 30mm ~ 130mm distance between joints
  • High Transparency: Easy observation of connection status
  • Chemical Resistant: Suitable for various organic solvents
  • Air Condenser Compatible: Some models can serve as air condensers

Quality Assurance

Every straight connector undergoes strict dimensional inspection, joint taper testing, and thermal resistance testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Note: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use to prevent sticking. Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing. When using as an air condenser, ensure adequate length and proper sealing.

Applications

Typical Applications

Distillation Apparatus Extension

Increase distance between distillation head and condenser

Reflux Apparatus Connection

Connect flask and condenser, increase apparatus height

Joint Type Conversion

Connect components with different joint types (Outer/Inner type)

Air Condensation

Some models can serve as air condensers

Organic Synthesis

Various apparatus assembly and connections

Education

University chemistry lab teaching

Typical Apparatus Assembly

Flask (outer) → Straight Connector (Inner/Inner) → Condenser (outer)

Flask (outer) → Straight Connector (Outer/Inner) → Distillation Head (inner)

Condenser (outer) → Straight Connector (Outer/Outer) → Vacuum Adapter (inner)

Tip: The straight connector is the most fundamental connecting adapter in standard joint glassware. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing. For connecting different joint sizes, use a reducing adapter.

Straight Connector · Selection Guide

Select the right straight connector based on your connection needs:

📏 Apparatus Extension
For increasing apparatus height or extending vapor path length.
Recommended: Outer/Inner · 24/40 · 100mm distance
🔗 Connect Two Outer Joints
Both components have outer joints (male) that need to be connected.
Recommended: Inner/Inner · Match component joint size
🔗 Connect Two Inner Joints
Both components have inner joints (female) that need to be connected.
Recommended: Outer/Outer · Match component joint size
🔗 Connect Inner & Outer Joints
One component has an outer joint, the other has an inner joint.
Recommended: Outer/Inner · Match component joint size
🌬️ Air Condenser Use
For use as an air condenser to cool low-boiling solvents.
Recommended: Outer/Inner · 24/40 · ≥ 100mm distance

Selection Tip: First identify the joint types of the components to be connected (inner or outer), then select the corresponding straight connector type. For apparatus extension, the Outer/Inner type is recommended. Contact our technical team for assistance.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Preparation

  • Inspect connector for cracks, chips, or scratched joints
  • Clean joint surfaces with a soft cloth or cotton swab
  • Apply a small amount of vacuum grease if joints are too tight
04

Installation & Connection

  • Confirm both joint sizes match the components to be connected
  • Insert or fit one end with gentle twisting motion
  • Connect the other end to the next component
  • Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force
  • Secure components with clamps for stability
05

Operation Notes

  • Check all joints for proper sealing after connection
  • When using as an air condenser, ensure vertical installation
  • Consider weight load on the connector — avoid overloading
06

Disassembly & Cleaning

  • Gently twist to detach components
  • Clean immediately after use to prevent residue buildup
  • Wash joints with soft brush and detergent, avoid hard objects
  • Air dry after washing, store with soft paper between joints
