Product Description

The vacuum adapter is a key receiving component in standard joint distillation apparatus, connecting the condenser to the receiving flask while providing a vacuum connection for reduced-pressure distillation. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it offers excellent thermal and chemical resistance for various organic solvent distillation applications.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, low expansion, thermal shock 280°C
  • Multiple Body Shapes: Straight, bent 105°, bent 135° for different apparatus layouts
  • Multiple Channel Configurations: Single, two-way, three-way for various receiving needs
  • PTFE Stopcock Option: Corrosion-resistant, excellent sealing for fine flow control
  • Multiple Joint Types: Standard 1:10 taper joint or ball joint
  • Standard Joint: 1:10 taper, precision ground for reliable sealing
  • Multiple Sizes: DIN (EU) 14/23 ~ 60/45 and ASTM equivalents
  • High Transparency: Easy observation of condensate collection
  • Chemical Resistant: Suitable for various organic solvents

Quality Assurance

Every vacuum adapter undergoes strict dimensional inspection, joint taper testing, and thermal resistance testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Note: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use to prevent sticking. For vacuum operations, confirm all connections are well sealed. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing.

Applications

Typical Applications

Atmospheric Distillation

Solvent recovery, product purification

Vacuum Distillation

Heat-sensitive materials, high-boiling compounds

Fractionation

Multi-component mixture separation

Solvent Purification

High-purity solvent distillation

Pharmaceutical R&D

Intermediate purification, API refining

Education

University organic chemistry lab teaching

Typical Apparatus Assembly

Distillation flask → Distillation head → Condenser → Vacuum adapter → Receiving flask

Vacuum adapter (side arm) → Vacuum pump/vacuum system

Two-way/three-way configurations allow multiple receiving flasks

Tip: The vacuum adapter is the key component connecting the condenser to the receiving flask while providing vacuum connection. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing. PTFE stopcock models are recommended for fine control applications.

Vacuum Adapter · Selection Guide

Select the right vacuum adapter configuration based on your experimental needs:

📌 Standard Distillation
For routine atmospheric or vacuum distillation with single flask collection.
Recommended: Bent 105° · Single · No Stopcock
🔀 Multi-Fraction Collection
Switch receiving flasks without breaking vacuum for different temperature fractions.
Recommended: Straight/Bent 105° · Two-Way or Three-Way
🎯 Fine Flow Control
Precise control of condensate flow into receiving flasks.
Recommended: Single PTFE Stopcock or Double PTFE Stopcock
🔗 Flexible Connection Needs
Requires flexible receiving flask angles or special interface connections.
Recommended: Ball Joint + Bent Shape
💧 Anti-Walling Requirement
High-boiling or crystallizing materials — prevent condensate from adhering to walls.
Recommended: Drip Tip (with dropper) Design
🧪 Large Capacity Receiving
Needs deep reach into large receiving flasks or larger receiving surface area.
Recommended: Long Neck or Spherical Receiving End

Selection Tip: Recommendations are for common scenarios. For actual selection, consider your specific apparatus layout, number of fractions, and material properties. Contact our technical team for assistance.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Preparation

  • Inspect adapter for cracks, chips, or scratched joints
  • Clean all joint surfaces with a soft cloth or cotton swab
  • Apply a small amount of vacuum grease if joints are too tight
  • PTFE stopcock models: Check O-ring integrity and smooth rotation
  • Ball joint models: Check O-ring condition
04

Installation & Connection

  • Connect the upper joint to the condenser, insert with gentle twisting
  • Connect the lower joint to the receiving flask
  • Connect the vacuum side arm to the vacuum system
  • Two-way/three-way models: Connect receiving flasks to corresponding ports
  • Secure components with clamps
  • PTFE stopcock models: Confirm stopcock is closed before applying vacuum
05

Distillation/Receiving Operation

  • Check all joints for proper sealing
  • Start vacuum system, confirm system integrity
  • Begin heating, observe condensate collection
  • Single models: Direct collection
  • Two/Three-way models: Switch channels using stopcock rotation
  • Maintain system vacuum when switching flasks
  • Collect fractions at each temperature range
06

Disassembly & Cleaning

  • Stop heating, close vacuum system, allow to return to atmospheric pressure
  • Gently twist to detach components (receiving flask first, then adapter)
  • PTFE stopcock models: Remove and clean separately
  • Clean immediately after use to prevent residue buildup
  • Wash joints with soft brush and detergent, avoid hard objects
  • PTFE stopcock can be cleaned with organic solvents; maintain O-ring
  • Air dry after washing, store with soft paper between joints

Care & Notes

Show care & notes

Safety Tips

  • Confirm all joints are well sealed before vacuum operation
  • PTFE stopcock maximum operating temperature: 280°C
  • Ball joint connections: Ensure O-ring is properly seated
  • Control temperature carefully when distilling flammable solvents
  • Always work in a fume hood when handling hazardous chemicals
Do not
  • Do not use cracked or chipped adapters for vacuum experiments
  • Avoid sudden pressure changes when switching flasks
