Std Joint T‑Shaped Connector

14# ~ 29# · with T‑bore Stopcock · Custom Reducers Available

The standard joint T‑shaped connector is a key component for flow switching and direction control in standard taper glassware systems. It features a straight‑through body with a perpendicular side arm, forming a T configuration, and is equipped with a T‑bore stopcock available in glass or PTFE. By rotating the stopcock, operators can easily switch between straight‑through flow, side‑arm flow, or complete closure. Made from high‑borosilicate glass 3.3 with 1:10 precision‑ground taper joints, the product fully complies with Chinese National Standards (GB/T), US ASTM E, and ISO 3585 standard taper specifications, ensuring seamless interchangeability with both domestic and imported standard taper glassware. A 90° vacuum side arm is standard on the right side for easy connection to vacuum pumps or inert gas lines. Custom joint sizes, stopcock bore diameters, and reducing configurations are available upon request.

Product Description

The T‑shaped connector is a three‑way glass adapter with a T‑bore stopcock, designed for flow direction control in standard taper glass assemblies. Its straight‑through body with a perpendicular side arm and T‑bore stopcock allows operators to conveniently switch between straight‑through, side‑arm, or closed positions, providing precise control over gas or liquid flow. A 90° vacuum side arm is standard on the right side for connection to vacuum pumps or inert gas supplies. This connector is an essential component for Schlenk lines, vacuum manifolds, and multi‑port reaction systems.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: Meets GB/ISO/ASTM standards, low thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance up to 280°C, excellent resistance to most acids, bases, and organic solvents
  • Multi‑Standard Compliance: Precision‑ground 1:10 taper meets GB/T, ASTM E, and ISO 3585 standard taper specifications, guaranteeing full interchangeability with all major standard systems
  • T‑bore Stopcock: Available in glass (cost‑effective, suitable for most organic systems) or PTFE (resistant to strong acids/bases, no lubrication required, superior seal)
  • 90° Vacuum Side Arm: Standard on the right side for easy connection to vacuum pumps, inert gas cylinders, or Schlenk lines
  • Customizable: Available in 14#, 19#, 24#, 29# with stopcock bore sizes (2mm / 4mm / 6mm) and reducing configurations

Quality Assurance

Each T‑connector is inspected for taper accuracy, stopcock seal integrity, and surface finish to ensure reliable performance with all standard joint components. Custom bulk orders are welcome.

Tip: The T‑bore stopcock allows convenient flow switching. For vacuum applications, PTFE stopcocks are recommended for optimal sealing.

Applications

Typical Uses

Schlenk Line Systems

Flow switching for inert gas protection

Vacuum Manifolds

Switch between vacuum and vent positions for multi‑port vacuum control

Inert Atmosphere

Alternate between N₂/Ar purge and vacuum evacuation

Continuous Flow Chemistry

Flow direction control in multi‑feed systems

Teaching Labs

Fundamental flow control for organic/inorganic courses

Compatible Equipment

Standard joint flasks, condensers, distillation and fractionating heads

Schlenk lines, vacuum manifolds

Inert gas (N₂/Ar) supply systems

Vacuum pumps and vacuum lines

Tip: Always use matching standard joint sizes for optimal sealing. The 90° side arm is designed for easy connection to vacuum or inert gas lines.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Before Use

  • Inspect for cracks, chips, or scratches on any joint
  • Check that the T‑bore stopcock rotates smoothly
  • Clean all joint surfaces with a soft cloth to remove particulates
  • Confirm that the joint sizes of all components match
04

Stopcock Operation

  • For glass stopcocks, apply a thin layer of vacuum grease if needed
  • PTFE stopcocks require no lubrication — use directly
  • Rotate the stopcock gently; avoid excessive force
05

Installation

  • Align the joint with the receiving port and gently twist into place
  • Use a clamp on the body of the T‑connector (not on the joints) for support
  • The 90° side arm can be connected to vacuum or inert gas lines
  • For vacuum applications, ensure all joints are well‑seated
06

Cleaning & Storage

  • Rinse immediately after use to prevent blockage
  • Use soft brushes and appropriate detergents for the inner channels
  • Air dry and store with protective paper between ground joints
  • Protect joints from impacts

T‑Shaped Connector · Selection Guide

Four key dimensions determine the right T‑connector for your system: joint size, stopcock type, stopcock bore, and application.

1. By Joint Size

Joint size determines compatibility with your existing standard taper glassware. GB/T, ASTM, and ISO designations are physically interchangeable.

2. By Stopcock Type

  • Glass Stopcock (Standard): Cost‑effective, suitable for most organic solvents. Ideal for routine organic synthesis and distillation.
  • PTFE Stopcock (Upgrade): Resists strong acids, bases, and aggressive chemicals. No lubrication required, excellent seal. Ideal for harsh chemical environments.

3. By Stopcock Bore Size

Bore size determines flow capacity.

5. Quick Selection Checklist

Follow this decision flow to quickly identify the right configuration:

  • ① Scale? Micro → 14#  |  Standard → 19#  |  Mid‑Scale → 24#  |  Large → 29#
  • ② Media type? Organic solvents → Glass stopcock  |  Acids/bases/corrosive → PTFE
  • ③ Flow rate? Low → 2mm  |  Medium → 4mm  |  High → 6mm
  • ④ Reducing needed? Same sizes → Standard  |  Different sizes → Custom Reducing
