Product Description

I. Overview

The plastic desiccator is a sealed container for vacuum drying, vacuum storage, and moisture-proof preservation of laboratory items. Manufactured from high-clarity polycarbonate (PC) top and polypropylene (PP) base, offering high strength, excellent transparency, lightweight, and impact resistance.

Available in 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, and 300mm sizes. Equipped with a PP perforated plate and silicone O-ring seal for vacuum or non-vacuum use. Threaded ports on the top and base allow installation of stopcocks and vacuum gauges.

Compared to glass desiccators, plastic desiccators are shatterproof and safer to use, with high transparency for easy observation. Suitable for vacuum drying and storage of biochemical reagents, pharmaceuticals, optical lenses, precision components, seeds, cultural relics, and more.

🔬 Product Advantages:
High-Clarity PC — Easy observation of contents
Silicone O-Ring Seal — Grease-free, reliable sealing
Long Vacuum Retention — Minimal pressure change after evacuation
Stackable Design — Top guard ring for easy handling and stacking

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Top Material: High-clarity polycarbonate (PC)
  • Base Material: Polypropylene (PP), white
  • Plate Material: PP perforated plate for easy access
  • Seal Type: Silicone O-ring, grease-free
  • Size Range: 150mm / 200mm / 250mm / 300mm
  • Temperature Range: -40℃ ~ 120℃
  • Vacuum Level: Maintains 740 mmHg+ vacuum
  • Vacuum Retention: Holds vacuum for 24 hours at room temperature
  • Ports: Threaded ports on top and base for stopcock/vacuum gauge

III. Material & Workmanship

The top is injection-molded from high-quality polycarbonate (PC), offering high clarity, strength, and impact resistance. The base and plate are made of polypropylene (PP) with a white base for easy content observation.

The top and bottom sections are sealed with a silicone O-ring — no grease required, reliable sealing performance. The top guard ring design facilitates handling and stable stacking.

Every batch undergoes rigorous dimensional and seal testing to ensure consistent quality.

Applications

Typical Applications

Vacuum Drying

Biochemical reagents, pharmaceuticals, samples — fast and safe

Vacuum Storage

Optical lenses, precision components, seeds, cultural relics

Inert Gas Vacuum Storage

Purge with nitrogen or inert gas before evacuation to prevent oxidation

Moisture-Proof Storage

Non-vacuum storage with desiccants (e.g., indicating silica gel)

Degassing

Removing bubbles from viscous materials like epoxy resin and liquid silicone

Vacuum Leak Testing

Leak detection with a vacuum pump

Selection Guide

I. By Size

ApplicationRecommended SizePlate Dia.Typical Contents
Small samples, valuable reagents150mm139mmSmall reagent vials, optical components
Routine laboratory use200mm187mmRoutine reagents, pharmaceuticals, samples
Medium batch samples250mm230mmBulk reagents, media, seeds
Large capacity bulk drying300mm287mmLarge samples, oversized components

II. By Configuration

  • Non-Vacuum Desiccator: Sealed lid for routine moisture-proof storage, no vacuum required
  • Vacuum Desiccator: Equipped with stopcock and vacuum port for vacuum drying and storage
  • Dual-Valve Desiccator: Two stopcocks enable inert gas purge function

💡 Selection Tip: 250mm vacuum desiccator is the most commonly used size in laboratories.
For vacuum drying or storage, choose a vacuum desiccator with stopcock.
For inert gas protection, choose a dual-valve desiccator.
For routine moisture-proof storage, a non-vacuum desiccator is sufficient.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Below are standard operating guidelines for plastic desiccators. Proper use ensures drying effectiveness and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect for cracks, deformation, and seal integrity
  • Rinse with distilled or deionized water and air dry
  • Place the silicone O-ring in the base groove
  • For desiccant use (e.g., indicating silica gel), spread evenly below the plate
04

II. Non-Vacuum Use

  1. Place items on the PP perforated plate
  2. Position the O-ring in the base groove
  3. Place the PC top over the base, ensuring the seal contacts the top edge
  4. For sealed storage, gently press the top to ensure tight contact with the seal
05

III. Vacuum Use

  1. Place items on the PP perforated plate
  2. Position the O-ring in the base groove and place the PC top
  3. Connect vacuum tubing to the stopcock quick-connect fitting
  4. Open the vacuum source — press the top down during initial evacuation
  5. Once vacuum stabilizes, close the stopcock and disconnect the tubing
  6. To introduce inert gas, use the second stopcock port
06

IV. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean promptly after use and air dry
  • Stubborn residues: use mild neutral detergent, rinse with distilled water
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives on the inner wall
  • Inspect the O-ring regularly and replace ifageing
  • Store in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "The seal is critical — inspect carefully" — Always check the O-ring for damage and proper positioning before each use.
"Press the top during evacuation" — Press the top down when starting evacuation, release once vacuum stabilizes.
"Replace desiccant regularly" — Replace or regenerate indicating silica gel when color changes.
"Monitor vacuum with a gauge" — A vacuum gauge allows real-time monitoring of vacuum status.

⚠️ Safety & Compliance Checklist

Safety

Wear protective gloves and safety goggles during vacuum operations

Temperature Range

PC/PP can be used from -40℃ to 120℃

Chemical Compatibility

PC/PP have limited tolerance to strong organic solvents — verify before use

Do not
  • Vacuum Safety: Monitor vacuum level to avoid excessive evacuation causing deformation
