Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE microwave digestion vessel is precision-machined from high-purity PTFE or modified PTFE (TFM) specifically for microwave digestion systems. The vessel offers exceptional chemical resistance, high-temperature/ high-pressure tolerance, and ultra-low metal leaching — making it the essential consumable for ICP-MS, ICP-OES, and AAS trace analysis sample preparation.

Compatible with major microwave digestion systems — with main vessel (pressure monitoring) and standard vessel options. The vessels are fully compatible with original instrument interfaces for easy installation.

TFM material (modified PTFE) offers higher temperature resistance, better mechanical strength, and lower metal leaching than standard PTFE — making it the preferred choice for high-end trace analysis.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE / TFM with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃ (PTFE) / up to 280℃ (TFM)
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, organic solvents
  • Surface: Non-stick, low friction, minimal sample residue
  • Brand Compatibility: confirm your digester brand and model before ordering
  • Sizes: 50ml / 80ml / 100ml / 110ml

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE or TFM resin using precision molding or machining in cleanroom environments — smooth inner and outer walls, bubble-free, crack-free, ensuring structural integrity under extreme microwave digestion conditions.

TFM (modified PTFE) retains all the chemical inertness of PTFE while offering higher temperature resistance and mechanical strength for more demanding digestion applications.

Each product undergoes rigorous visual and dimensional inspection to ensure precise instrument compatibility.

II. Main vs Standard Vessel

  • Main Vessel (monitoring): Equipped with pressure/temperature monitoring interface — higher cost, used for real-time monitoring
  • Standard Vessel: No monitoring interface — lower cost, used for non-monitoring positions

III. Material Selection

  • PTFE (standard): Cost-effective, suitable for most digestion applications
  • TFM (premium): Modified PTFE — lower metal leaching, higher temperature resistance (280℃) — ideal for ultra-trace analysis

💡 Selection Tip: Vessels are not interchangeable between brands — please confirm your instrument brand and model before ordering.
For ultra-trace analysis (ICP-MS level), choose TFM material vessels for the lowest metal leaching.
Typically only 1-2 main vessels are needed per instrument — the rest can be standard vessels.
Replace digestion vessels regularly (typically every 1-2 years) to ensure digestion efficiency and data accuracy.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE microwave digestion vessels. Proper use and maintenance ensure digestion efficiency and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the vessel for cracks, deformation, and smooth sealing surfaces
  • Clean with ultrapure water or 10% nitric acid to remove manufacturing residues
  • Confirm vessel compatibility with your instrument
  • Check sealing components (if applicable) for integrity
04

II. Sample Loading & Digestion

  1. Place the weighed sample into the vessel and add the required digestion acid
  2. Seal the vessel with moderate torque — ensure the sealing ring is properly positioned
  3. Load the vessel into the microwave digestion system and set the digestion program
  4. After digestion, allow the vessel to cool to room temperature before removal
05

III. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Rinse with ultrapure water after use — stubborn residues can be soaked in 10% nitric acid
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives — may scratch the vessel surface
  • PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Regularly inspect for aging or cracks — replace damaged vessels promptly
06

IV. Important Notes

  • Vessels are brand-specific — do not mix between different instrument brands
  • Do not exceed rated temperature and pressure conditions
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine
  • Replace digestion vessels regularly (typically every 1-2 years) for optimal results

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Accurate acid volume — moderate torque" — Acid volume should be precisely controlled — too much creates excessive pressure, too little results in incomplete digestion. Follow standard methods or instrument manufacturer recommendations.
Do not over-tighten the vessel cap — PTFE is soft and over-tightening can deform the opening or damage the sealing ring. Use a torque wrench for consistent results.
Always cool to room temperature before opening to prevent acid spray from hot pressurized vapor.
Clean immediately after use to prevent residue from drying on the vessel surface.
