Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE adapter is precision-machined from high-purity PTFE resin for connecting tubing of different sizes and interface types in laboratory and industrial fluid systems. The fully fluorinated construction ensures chemical purity of the contact medium and eliminates metal ion contamination risks.

PTFE's extremely low friction coefficient and exceptional chemical resistance ensure stable sealing performance even in aggressive chemical environments. Available in straight, reducing, tee, and elbow configurations to accommodate tubing from 4mm to 12mm OD.

Adapters seal via PTFE ferrules or NPT threads — easy to install and re-usable. Widely used in chemical synthesis, analytical instrumentation, semiconductor wet processing, and pharmaceutical formulation systems.

Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
Operating Pressure: System dependent — typical ≤ 1.0 MPa
Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, and organic solvents

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin using precision machining or molding techniques. Both inner and outer surfaces are smooth with no burrs — dimensional accuracy ensures tight fitting with tubing. Threaded adapters use precision threads compatible with standard NPT specifications.

All products are processed and packaged in cleanroom environments to ensure surface cleanliness. Each adapter undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection and visual examination.

II. By Interface Type

Straight: Same-size tubing connections — most common type
Reducing: Transitions between different tubing sizes
Tee: One-to-two or two-to-one distribution — for branch lines
Elbow: Changes tubing direction (45°/90°) — for space-constrained installations

III. Sealing Method Selection

Ferrule Seal: Easy installation, re-usable — recommended for most lab applications
NPT Thread Seal: With PTFE tape — suitable for high-pressure or high-temperature systems
Flange Seal: Suitable for large-diameter tubing or applications requiring frequent disassembly

💡 Selection Tip: The adapter's pressure rating must meet or exceed the system's maximum operating pressure. For highly corrosive media, choose full PTFE adapters to avoid metal contact with corrosive fluids.
Use PTFE tape on threads for reliable sealing and to prevent thread galling.
For ultra-high purity applications (semiconductor wet processing), choose PFA material adapters for the lowest metal leaching.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE adapters. Proper installation and maintenance ensure system integrity and safety.

I. Pre-installation Preparation

Inspect the adapter for cracks, deformations, and thread integrity
Check tubing ends for smooth, square cuts — no burrs or scratches
Clean the adapter interior with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent
Prepare PTFE tape (for threaded connections) or matching ferrules

II. Ferrule Adapter Installation

Slide the ferrule nut and ferrule onto the tubing end in order
Insert the tubing end fully into the adapter body
Hand-tighten the ferrule nut until resistance is felt
Using a wrench, tighten an additional 1/4~1/2 turn to complete the seal

III. Threaded Adapter Installation

Wrap PTFE tape on the male threads — 3~5 wraps in the direction of thread rotation
Hand-tighten the adapter until unable to turn further
Using a wrench, tighten an additional 1/2~1 turn — avoid excessive force
Check for leaks — tighten an additional 1/4 turn if needed

IV. Disassembly & Maintenance

Depressurize the system before disassembly — ensure safety
Use an appropriate wrench to loosen counter-clockwise
Inspect ferrule and sealing surfaces for damage — replace if necessary
Use fresh PTFE tape or new ferrules when re-installing

V. Important Notes

PTFE is relatively soft — avoid excessive force during installation
Do not weld or apply high heat to adapters
Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine
Regularly inspect seal integrity — address leaks promptly

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Gentle torque — no brute force" — PTFE is soft, over-tightening the ferrule can cause deformation or tubing crushing. Use a torque wrench for consistent results — contact our technical team for recommended torque values.
After first installation, perform a pressure test to confirm leak-free connection before operational use.
Chamfer the tubing end before insertion for easier fitting and to reduce O-ring damage risk.
