Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE filter holder is precision-machined from high-purity PTFE resin for securing and supporting membranes in filtration operations. Consisting of upper and lower sections that clamp together via threads or snap-fit, the holder securely positions the membrane to ensure that liquid passes only through the membrane — no edge leakage.

Compared to stainless steel or plastic filter holders, PTFE offers overwhelming chemical resistance — compatible with hydrofluoric acid, aqua regia, concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids, and virtually all aggressive reagents — without surface degradation or sample contamination. PTFE's non-stick properties ensure easy membrane replacement and residue-free cleaning.

Available in 25mm, 40mm, 47mm, and 90mm sizes — compatible with all standard membrane diameters. Widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, and environmental testing laboratories.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Surface Energy: 18.5 mN/m (lowest among solid materials)
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, organic solvents
  • Surface: Non-stick, low friction, easy membrane replacement
  • Sterilization: Autoclavable (121℃, 2bar) or dry heat sterilization

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin using precision machining in cleanroom environments — ensuring a dense, smooth, dimensionally accurate product. The upper and lower sections are precisely matched with smooth sealing surfaces for uniform clamping and leak-free operation.

Each product undergoes rigorous visual and dimensional inspection to ensure precision and surface quality.

Selection Guide

I. By Membrane Diameter

Membrane DiameterRecommended SizeTypical Use
25mm25mmHPLC solvent, micro samples
40mm40mmMicro-filtration, small samples
47mm47mmRoutine lab filtration
90mm90mmLarge samples, industrial

II. By Filtration Volume

  • 25mm-40mm: Filtration volume < 50ml
  • 47mm: Filtration volume 50ml ~ 500ml
  • 90mm: Filtration volume > 500ml

III. Sealing Mechanism

  • Threaded: Reliable sealing for high-pressure or vacuum filtration
  • Snap-fit: Quick assembly — ideal for frequent membrane changes

💡 Selection Tip: 47mm is the most common lab size — compatible with most standard membranes. Choose this as your default.
For HPLC solvent filtration, choose the 25mm size with syringe filters.
For corrosive samples, always choose PTFE filter holders for reliable long-term operation.
For high-temperature applications, choose the threaded design for more reliable sealing.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE filter holders. Proper use and maintenance ensure filtration efficiency and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect all components — ensure sealing surfaces are smooth
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent to remove manufacturing residues
  • Select appropriate membrane (slightly larger than the sealing surface diameter)
  • Confirm the filter holder is compatible with the receiving vessel or filtration system
04

II. Membrane Installation

  1. Open the filter holder — place the membrane on the bottom sealing surface
  2. Close the top section — tighten via threads or snap-fit for uniform clamping
  3. Connect to the filtration system (syringe, vacuum pump, or pressure source)
  4. Slowly introduce the liquid — begin filtration
05

III. Membrane Replacement

  • After filtration, open the filter holder and remove the used membrane
  • Clean the sealing surfaces with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent
  • Inspect sealing surfaces for scratches or damage
  • Ensure surfaces are dry and clean before installing a new membrane
06

IV. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent after use — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Stubborn residues may be soaked in dilute nitric acid
  • Sterilization: Autoclave (121℃, 15-20min) or dry heat sterilization
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives — they may scratch sealing surfaces
06

V. Important Notes

  • PTFE is relatively soft — avoid dropping or impact with hard objects
  • Do not use for high-temperature operations (> 260℃)
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine
  • Apply moderate clamping force — over-tightening may damage the membrane or sealing surface

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Center the membrane — clamp evenly" — Ensure the membrane is centered and fully covers the sealing surface. Apply even pressure when clamping to prevent leakage or membrane damage from wrinkles.
Wet the membrane with a small amount of solvent before filtration to improve efficiency and prevent drying.
For viscous liquids, increase pressure or use a larger diameter filter holder.
Clean immediately after each use to prevent residue buildup.
