Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE solid plug is precision-machined from high-purity PTFE resin for sealing and capping standard joint glassware. The solid plug is made entirely of PTFE with no metal components — ensuring zero metal ion contamination when in contact with corrosive media.

The plug features a 1:10 taper that precisely matches standard joint specifications, providing a tight, reliable seal when inserted. Unlike stirring plugs, solid plugs have no center hole — making them ideal for full sealing or temporary capping of vessels.

Available in 10#, 12#, 14#, 19#, 24#, and 29# standard joint sizes — compatible with all standard joint tubes, flasks, and reaction vessels. Widely used in chemical synthesis, sample storage, and pharmaceutical R&D.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, organic solvents
  • Surface: Non-stick, easy to clean
  • Joint Sizes: 10# / 12# / 14# / 19# / 24# / 29#
  • Taper: 1:10 (standard joint)

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin using precision machining in cleanroom environments — ensuring dimensional accuracy, smooth surfaces, and burr-free finish. The taper is precision-ground for a tight, leak-free fit with standard joints.

Each product undergoes rigorous visual and dimensional inspection to ensure precision and surface quality.

Selection Guide

I. By Vessel Joint Size

Vessel JointRecommended PlugTypical Vessel
10#10#Micro tubes, small vessels
12#12#Micro tubes, small vessels
14#14#Small flasks, tubes
19#19#Small flasks
24#24#Standard flasks (most common)
29#29#Standard flasks

II. Solid Plug vs Stirring Plug

  • Solid Plug: No center hole — for full sealing or capping
  • Stirring Plug: With center hole and O-ring — for stirrer shafts

💡 Selection Tip: 24# is the most common size — suitable for most standard laboratory flasks. Choose this as your default.
The plug joint size must exactly match the vessel joint — do not mix sizes.
Solid plugs are suitable for temporary sealing or long-term storage. For stirrer applications, choose a stirring plug instead.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE solid plugs. Proper use and maintenance ensure sealing performance and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the plug for damage — ensure the joint surface is smooth
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent
  • Confirm the plug size matches the vessel joint
04

II. Installation

  1. Align the plug with the vessel joint
  2. Gently insert and twist into the joint
  3. Ensure full contact — no tilting
  4. Apply moderate pressure — do not overtighten
05

III. Seal Check

  • After installation, check sealing by applying slight pressure or vacuum
  • If leaks are detected, gently tighten or inspect the joint for damage
  • Periodically check seal status during prolonged use
06

IV. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent after use — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Stubborn residues may be soaked in dilute nitric acid
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives — may scratch the joint surface
  • Store in a clean, dry location when not in use
06

V. Important Notes

  • PTFE is relatively soft — avoid dropping or impact with hard objects
  • Do not exceed rated temperature during prolonged use
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Apply grease — better seal" — A thin layer of vacuum grease or PTFE lubricant on the joint surface improves sealing and makes insertion/removal easier.
Do not over-tighten — insert until moderate resistance is felt. Over-tightening may damage the joint or cause seizing.
For long-term sealing, clean the joint surfaces before installation to ensure a particle-free seal.
