Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE Buchner funnel is precision-molded from high-purity PTFE resin, specifically designed for vacuum filtration operations. The smooth inner surface with uniformly distributed perforations, combined with filter paper or membranes, enables efficient solid-liquid separation under vacuum.

Compared to traditional ceramic or glass Buchner funnels, PTFE offers overwhelming chemical resistance — compatible with hydrofluoric acid, aqua regia, concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids, and virtually all aggressive reagents — without surface degradation or sample contamination. PTFE's non-stick properties ensure easy cake removal and effortless cleaning.

Available in eight sizes from 50mm to 150mm, compatible with all standard filtration flasks. Widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, and environmental testing laboratories for vacuum filtration operations.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Surface Energy: 18.5 mN/m (lowest among solid materials)
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, organic solvents
  • Surface: Non-stick, low friction, easy cake removal
  • Sterilization: Autoclavable (121℃, 2bar) or dry heat sterilization

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin using precision cold pressing and gradient sintering in cleanroom environments — ensuring a dense, bubble-free structure with a smooth, uniform surface. Perforations are uniformly distributed with consistent pore size for optimal filtration efficiency.

Each product undergoes rigorous visual and dimensional inspection to ensure precision and surface quality.

II. By Receiving Vessel

  • 50mm-80mm: Fits small filtration flasks (250ml-500ml)
  • 90mm-100mm: Fits medium filtration flasks (500ml-1000ml)
  • 120mm-150mm: Fits large filtration flasks (1000ml-5000ml)

💡 Selection Tip: Buchner funnel diameter should be slightly smaller than the receiving vessel opening for stable placement and good sealing. Larger filtration volumes require larger diameter funnels for higher efficiency.
For corrosive samples, always choose PTFE Buchner funnels for reliable long-term operation.
For viscous liquids, choose a slightly larger diameter funnel with coarser filter paper.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE Buchner funnels. Proper use and maintenance ensure filtration efficiency and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the funnel for cracks, deformation, and clear perforations
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent to remove manufacturing residues
  • Select appropriate filter paper or membrane (slightly smaller than funnel diameter)
  • Confirm the filtration flask and funnel are compatible — check sealing ring
04

II. Filtration Operation

  1. Place filter paper or membrane in the funnel — wet with solvent to flatten
  2. Position the funnel on the filtration flask — ensure good sealing
  3. Start the vacuum pump — once stable, pour the liquid slowly along a glass rod
  4. After filtration, turn off the vacuum pump — wait for pressure balance before removal
05

III. Cake Handling

  • After filtration, use a scraper to remove the filter cake
  • PTFE's non-stick surface ensures easy cake removal — no forceful scraping needed
  • For drying, transfer the filter paper with cake to an oven
06

IV. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent after use — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Stubborn residues may be soaked in dilute nitric acid
  • Sterilization: Autoclave (121℃, 15-20min) or dry heat sterilization
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives — they may scratch the surface
06

V. Important Notes

  • PTFE is relatively soft — avoid dropping or impact with hard objects
  • Do not use for high-temperature operations (> 260℃)
  • Avoid contact with molten alkali metals (Na, K) and elemental fluorine
  • Ensure good sealing between funnel and flask — prevents vacuum loss

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Wet first, then filter" — Always wet the filter paper or membrane with solvent to ensure tight contact with the funnel bottom — this prevents leakage around the edges.
For viscous liquids, increase vacuum pressure or use slightly coarser filter paper to improve flow rate.
After filtering corrosive liquids, clean the funnel immediately to prevent surface damage.
Always turn off the vacuum pump first and wait for pressure balance before removing the funnel — prevents liquid backflow.
