Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE stirring rod features a stainless steel core with a high-purity PTFE sleeve, and blades manufactured entirely from PTFE. Designed for use with electric overhead stirrers, compatible with laboratory flasks, beakers, reactors, and other vessels for liquid stirring operations.

The PTFE sleeve provides exceptional chemical resistance — inert to strong acids (including hydrofluoric acid), strong alkalis, aqua regia, and all organic solvents — without sample contamination or adsorption. The stainless steel core delivers mechanical strength and rigidity, preventing bending or deformation even at high rotation speeds.

The crescent type stirring rod features adjustable blades that can be closed for insertion through flask necks and opened inside the vessel with a gentle press — extremely convenient to use. Available in lengths from 250mm to 1000mm, fitting vessels from 100ml to 100L. Widely used in chemical synthesis, pharmaceuticals, materials science, and environmental testing laboratories.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Shaft Construction: Stainless core + PTFE sleeve, shaft diameters 7/8/10/14mm
  • Blade Material: Full PTFE, non-stick, corrosion-resistant
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, organic solvents
  • Compatibility: Electric overhead stirrers, standard interface
  • Vessel Compatibility: 100ml ~ 100L flasks, beakers, reactors

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured using imported high-purity PTFE resin with precision encapsulation technology — the stainless core is fully enclosed within the PTFE layer, preventing metal contact with media and eliminating metal ion contamination risks. Blades are integrally molded with the shaft for structural integrity.

The crescent type features a specially designed blade that can be adjusted by gentle pressing — closed for insertion, then opened inside the vessel for optimal stirring efficiency.

All products are manufactured and packaged in cleanroom environments to ensure particle-free, contaminant-free surfaces.

III. Crescent Type Usage Tips

  • Blades can be adjusted by gentle pressing — close for insertion, open inside the vessel
  • After insertion, gently press the blade top to open into crescent shape
  • Provides excellent stirring efficiency with minimal vortex
  • Close blades again for easy removal through the flask neck

💡 Selection Tip: Rod length should slightly exceed vessel height to ensure blades are fully submerged below the liquid surface. For high-torque applications with large volumes, choose 10mm or 14mm shaft diameter.
For highly corrosive media, always choose full PTFE-encapsulated rods to ensure the stainless core never contacts the corrosive liquid.
The crescent type is the most versatile choice for most laboratory stirring applications.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE stirring rods. Proper use and maintenance ensure stirring efficiency and product longevity.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the PTFE sleeve for integrity — no damage or cracks
  • Check blades are intact — crescent type blades should move freely
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent to remove surface particles
  • Confirm rod length is suitable for the vessel (slightly longer than vessel height)
  • Ensure the electric stirrer chuck matches the rod shaft diameter
04

II. Installation & Insertion

  1. Insert the rod top into the electric stirrer chuck and tighten securely
  2. For crescent type: Close the blades and insert through the flask neck
  3. After insertion, gently press the blade top inside the flask to open the blades
  4. Adjust rod height so blades are fully submerged below the liquid surface
05

III. Stirring Operation

  • Recommended speed range: 100~2000rpm — adjust based on viscosity and vessel size
  • Avoid running dry — never operate without liquid
  • Stop immediately if abnormal vibration or noise occurs
  • Monitor liquid temperature during extended operation
06

IV. Removal & Cleaning

  • Stop the stirrer and allow the rod to come to a complete stop
  • For crescent type: Close blades before removing from the flask
  • Clean with ultrapure water or appropriate solvent — PTFE's non-stick surface makes cleaning easy
  • Stubborn residues may be soaked in dilute nitric acid
  • Air dry or wipe dry — store in a clean, dry location
06

V. Maintenance & Important Notes

  • Regularly inspect PTFE sleeve integrity — replace if damaged
  • Avoid impact with hard objects to prevent PTFE sleeve damage
  • Do not exceed rated temperature during prolonged use
  • Never use hard brushes or abrasives for cleaning
  • Store in a dry, dark place when not in use

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Crescent type — insertion technique matters" — Close the blades completely when passing through the flask neck. Once inside, gently press the blade top — the blades will spring open into the crescent shape automatically.
For removal, close the blades again before pulling out — never force it with blades open.
Optimal blade height: Position blades 5-10mm above the vessel bottom for thorough mixing without scraping.
Always start at low speed and gradually increase — this prevents blade impact with vessel walls.
