Product Description

I. Overview

The PTFE Petri dish is manufactured from high-purity PTFE resin through cold pressing and high-temperature sintering. It consists of a lid and a base with a smooth, rounded bottom that retains no residue. The polished surface is non-wetting and non-stick.

PTFE offers excellent high/low temperature resistance and chemical resistance, and is autoclavable. Petri dishes are widely used for inoculation, streaking, bacterial culture, and bacterial isolation — especially for film formation experiments and corrosive sample handling.

Available in sizes from 30mm to 120mm, widely used in microbiology, materials science, pharmaceutical, and environmental testing industries.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Purity: High-purity PTFE with ultra-low metal leaching (Pb, U < 0.01ppb)
  • Operating Temperature: -196℃ ~ 260℃, short-term up to 300℃
  • Chemical Resistance: Resistant to HF, aqua regia, concentrated H₂SO₄, HNO₃, strong alkalis, and organic solvents
  • Surface Properties: Smooth, non-wetting, non-stick, easy to clean
  • Sterilization: Autoclave (121℃, 15-20min)

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-purity PTFE resin, precision cold-pressed in molds, and sintered in high-temperature furnaces — ensuring dense structure, smooth surface, and bubble-free finish. The bottom is polished for exceptional surface flatness.

All products are assembled and packaged in cleanroom environments to ensure contamination-free surfaces.

II. By Size

  • 30mm ~ 40mm: Micro samples, film formation, precious samples
  • 50mm ~ 60mm: Small-scale culture, materials research
  • 70mm ~ 90mm: Routine microbial culture, standard experiments
  • 100mm ~ 120mm: Large-volume culture, batch experiments

💡 Selection Tip: Choose Petri dish size based on experimental scale and operational habits. For microbial culture, 90mm is the standard size for equipment compatibility. For film formation, smaller sizes (30mm/40mm) are recommended to save sample material and facilitate characterization.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Standard operating guidelines for PTFE Petri dishes. Proper use and maintenance significantly extend product life and ensure laboratory safety.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect the dish for damage and ensure the surface is smooth
  • Clean with ultrapure water or alcohol and dry
  • For sterile applications, autoclave (121℃, 15-20min)
  • For trace analysis, soak in 10% nitric acid for 24 hours, rinse thoroughly with ultrapure water, and dry
04

II. Media Preparation

  1. Pour sterilized media into the dish to a thickness of 3-5mm
  2. Allow the media to solidify before use
  3. Keep media temperature ≤ 60℃ to avoid thermal damage to the dish
05

III. Inoculation

  • Under sterile conditions (laminar flow hood), inoculate using a loop or pipette
  • Use the streaking method for single colony isolation
  • Cover the dish and label with sample information
06

IV. Incubation Conditions

  • Set temperature based on organism type (typically 25-37℃)
  • PTFE dishes tolerate high temperatures, but monitor media evaporation
  • Invert the dish during incubation to prevent condensation from dripping onto the media surface
06

V. Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Routine Cleaning: Clean promptly after use with detergent and a soft cloth or sponge
  • Stubborn Residues: Soak in hot water to dissolve media residues
  • Sterilization: Autoclave (121℃, 15-20min)
  • Important: Do not use hard brushes or abrasives that may scratch the surface

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "The non-stick surface is PTFE's biggest advantage" — colonies and media residues do not adhere, making cleaning easy. For film formation, PTFE's non-stick properties allow intact film peeling without damage.
During incubation, do not completely seal the lid to the base — leave a small gap for gas exchange (unless using vented membranes).
PTFE conducts heat slowly — allow media to cool naturally at room temperature to avoid excessive condensation from rapid cooling.
