Product Description

I. Overview

Absorbent paper is a versatile auxiliary consumable in the laboratory. Manufactured from 100% high-quality cotton pulp using hydro-entanglement and through-air drying processes, producing soft, fluffy paper with extremely high absorbency (≥ 8x its own weight), lint-free, and free of optical brighteners.

Widely used for absorbing liquids on lab benches, drying glassware surfaces, covering Petri dishes to prevent condensation, and absorption/drying in biological experiments. The biocompatibility of this product makes it suitable for cell culture, microbiology, and other applications requiring high material purity.

🔬 Core Value of Absorbent Paper:
Rapid Absorption: High-absorbency fiber structure, absorbs ≥ 8x its own weight.
Contamination-free: No optical brighteners, no chemical residues — suitable for biological and chemical experiments.
No Residue: Lint-free, fiber-free — prevents sample or equipment contamination.
Versatile: Absorption, drying, covering, wiping — multiple lab auxiliary functions.

II. Core Performance Parameters

  • Material: 100% Cotton Pulp Fiber
  • Process: Hydro-entanglement + Through-air drying
  • Absorption Capacity: ≥ 8x own weight
  • Absorption Speed: ≤ 5 seconds (full saturation)
  • Surface: Soft, fluffy, lint-free
  • Optical Brighteners: None
  • pH: Neutral (6.5-7.5)
  • Biocompatibility: Passed cytotoxicity testing
  • Sterilization: Autoclavable (121℃, 15-20min)
≥ 8× Absorption (x own weight)
≤ 5s Full Saturation Time
6.5-7.5 pH
121℃ Autoclavable

III. Material & Workmanship

Manufactured from imported high-quality cotton pulp using hydro-entanglement to form a fluffy fiber network, then fixed through through-air drying. This process gives the paper high absorbency, softness, and low linting properties.

Contains no optical brighteners or chemical binders, and has passed biocompatibility testing to ensure no cytotoxic effects on cells or microorganisms.

Selection Guide

I. By Application

ApplicationRecommended SizeReason
Lab bench liquid absorption100 × 200mmStandard size, easy handling
Glassware drying150 × 200mmLarger surface area
Petri dish covering200 × 250mmFits standard Petri dishes
Large area absorption/drying300 × 300mmExtra large size

II. By Experiment Type

  • General lab absorption/drying: Standard absorbent paper
  • Cell culture/biological experiments: Sterile-grade recommended
  • Trace analysis/high purity: Ultrapure water-washed (custom order)
  • Cleanroom environments: Cleanroom-grade (custom order)

III. Absorbent Paper vs Regular Tissue

ComparisonAbsorbent PaperRegular Tissue
Absorbency✅ High (≥ 8x weight)⚠️ Medium (3-4x weight)
Linting✅ Lint-free❌ Easy to shed fibers
Optical Brighteners✅ None❌ Usually contain
Biocompatibility✅ Cytotoxicity tested⚠️ Not tested
Sterilization✅ Autoclavable⚠️ Insufficient strength

💡 Selection Tip: 100 × 200mm is the most commonly used size for routine absorption and drying operations.
For cell culture and biological experiments, use sterile-grade absorbent paper for aseptic handling.
Regular tissues must not be used for biological experiments or precision instrument cleaning — optical brighteners and fiber residues may contaminate samples or damage equipment.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

Below are standard operating guidelines for absorbent paper. Proper use ensures optimal absorption and lab safety.

03

I. Pre-use Preparation

  • Inspect packaging integrity and paper surface for damage or contamination
  • For sterilization, place in sterilization bags and autoclave at 121℃ for 15-20 minutes
  • After sterilization, handle under aseptic conditions
04

II. Absorption Operation

  1. Take 1-2 sheets (depending on liquid volume)
  2. Directly cover the liquid surface, or wipe equipment surfaces
  3. After absorption, discard the used paper
  4. For large liquid volumes, use multiple layers
05

III. Petri Dish Covering

  1. Take 1 sheet and cut to match the Petri dish lid inner diameter
  2. Place the paper inside the Petri dish lid
  3. Cover the dish — the paper absorbs condensation
  4. Monitor and replace wet paper as needed
06

IV. Important Notes

  • Absorbent paper is single-use only — do not reuse
  • Do not use for precision optics (microscope lenses, optical components)
  • Do not use for filtration (use filter paper)
  • Do not use for weighing (use weighing paper)
  • Store in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture absorption
  • Dispose according to laboratory waste regulations after use

💡 From a Seasoned Lab Technician: "Absorbent paper is not lens paper" — Absorbent paper is coarse and must not be used for cleaning microscope lenses, optical devices, or precision surfaces to avoid scratches.
"Lid paper prevents dripping" — Placing absorbent paper inside Petri dish lids effectively prevents condensation from dripping onto the media surface, avoiding contamination and colony spread.
"Absorb first, then wipe" — For large liquid spills, absorb most of the liquid first, then wipe residual moisture — more efficient than wiping alone.
