Product Description
I. Overview
pH test paper is the most essential rapid pH detection tool in the laboratory. Manufactured using high-purity filter paper as the substrate, impregnated with multiple acid-base indicator solutions using precision coating and low-temperature drying processes. Upon contact with the test solution, color develops within 1-3 seconds, and the pH value is read by comparing with the standard color chart.
Available in Universal (pH 0-14 full range) and Precision (narrow range, 0.5 accuracy) series to meet various application needs from rapid screening to precise determination.
🔬 pH Test Paper vs pH Meter:
pH Test Paper: Fast, convenient, single-use, economical, no calibration — ideal for rapid screening and field testing.
pH Meter: Accurate, continuous measurement, requires calibration and maintenance — ideal for precise analysis and continuous monitoring.
II. Core Performance Parameters
- Substrate: High-purity filter paper, no optical brighteners
- Indicators: Mixed acid-base indicators (methyl red, bromothymol blue, phenolphthalein, etc.)
- Color Development Time: 1-3 seconds
- Stabilization Time: 10-30 seconds
- Accuracy: Universal ±1.0, Precision ±0.5
- Storage Conditions: Dark, dry, sealed, 4-30℃
- Shelf Life: 2-3 years (sealed)
- Packaging: 80-100 strips/book with standard color chart
III. Material & Workmanship
Manufactured using imported high-purity filter paper as the substrate, precision-cut and coated with indicator solutions using precision coating technology in cleanroom environments, then fixed through low-temperature vacuum drying. Each batch is calibrated with standard buffer solutions to ensure color accuracy and batch-to-batch consistency.
Standard color charts are produced using professional printing for accurate color reproduction.
Selection Guide
I. By Accuracy Requirement
| Application | Recommended Model | Accuracy | Reason |
| Rapid screening, teaching demos | Universal 0-14 | ±1.0 | Full range coverage, simple |
| Precision acid measurement | Precision 0.5-5.0 | ±0.5 | Narrow range, high resolution |
| Precision neutral/weak alkaline | Precision 5.5-9.0 | ±0.5 | Most common precision range |
| Precision alkaline measurement | Precision 8.0-13.0 | ±0.5 | Alkaline range precision |
II. By Sample Type
- Aqueous solutions/water samples: All models suitable
- Weak buffer solutions: Universal paper recommended
- Strong acid/alkali solutions: Universal + precision combination recommended
- Colored solutions: May interfere with color matching — pH meter recommended
- Emulsions/suspensions: Centrifuge or filter before testing

💡 Selection Tip:
Universal 0-14 is the most common pH paper for routine testing.
For higher accuracy applications (pharmaceutical QC, food pH testing), use Universal for screening then Precision paper for accurate determination.
Precision 5.5-9.0 is the most commonly used precision range, covering most biological and environmental samples.
