Product Description

The standard joint eggplant flask is an essential vessel for rotary evaporators, particularly designed for small-volume sample concentration. Its distinctive eggplant-shaped design ensures even sample distribution along the flask wall, providing higher concentration efficiency. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it offers excellent thermal resistance and chemical durability for various organic solvent evaporation applications. The standard 1:10 taper ground glass joint enables secure connections with rotary evaporators, condensers, and other standard joint accessories.

Key Features

  • Borosilicate Glass 3.3: ISO 3585 compliant, low expansion, thermal shock 280°C
  • Eggplant-Shaped Design: Even sample distribution, higher concentration efficiency
  • Standard Joint: 1:10 taper, precision ground for reliable sealing
  • Multiple Sizes: Available in 14#, 19#, 24#, 29# joint sizes
  • High Transparency: Easy observation of concentration progress
  • Chemical Resistant: Suitable for various organic solvents
  • Small Volume Specialized: Ideal for 5ml ~ 500ml sample concentration

Quality Assurance

Every flask undergoes strict dimensional inspection, joint taper testing, and thermal resistance testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Note: Ensure joints are clean and dry before use to prevent sticking. Eggplant flasks are particularly suitable for small-volume sample concentration. Choose appropriate capacity based on sample volume.

Applications

Typical Applications

Rotary Evaporation

Small-volume sample concentration, micro-solvent recovery

Organic Synthesis

Micro-reaction workup, small-volume product concentration

Pharmaceutical R&D

Small-scale intermediate concentration, API purification

Natural Product Extraction

Micro-extract concentration, separation

Education

University organic chemistry lab teaching

Analytical Chemistry

Micro-sample preparation, trace analysis

Compatible Equipment

Rotary evaporators (small capacity adapters)

Standard joint condensers, vacuum adapters

Water baths, oil baths

Tip: Compared to pear-shaped flasks, eggplant flasks are better suited for small-volume sample concentration. The eggplant shape ensures uniform sample distribution. Use accessories of the same joint size for optimal sealing.

Operation & Maintenance

User Guide

03

Preparation

  • Inspect flask for cracks, chips, or scratched joints
  • Clean joint surfaces with a soft cloth or cotton swab
  • Apply a small amount of vacuum grease if joints are too tight (avoid sample contamination)
04

Rotary Evaporation Operation

  • Mount the flask securely on the rotary evaporator, ensure tight joint connection
  • Sample volume should not exceed 1/2 of flask capacity
  • Immerse the flask 1/3 to 1/2 into the water bath
  • Select appropriate rotation speed and bath temperature based on solvent properties
  • Gradually increase temperature during evaporation to avoid bumping
05

Assembly & Disassembly

  • Insert with gentle twisting motion, do not force
  • Release vacuum before removal, then gently twist to detach
  • For stuck joints, try heating the outer wall with a hairdryer
06

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean immediately after use to prevent residue buildup
  • Wash joints with soft brush and detergent, avoid hard objects
  • Air dry after washing, store with soft paper between joints

Safety Tips

  • Ensure flask is securely mounted before operation to prevent detachment
  • Control temperature carefully when evaporating flammable solvents
  • Always work in a fume hood when handling hazardous chemicals
Do not
  • Do not use cracked or chipped flasks for rotary evaporation
